The Stars In Our Eyes

Chapter 2

  "It's Connor!!" he said, I jerked my head to his hand when I felt him slightly tug on my shirt sleeve. I was over Connor, and the lies, and I thought he knew that. 

  "Jared, We're done with that..you know that." I stated. I wasn't exactly sure why he brought Connor up, we really hadn't talked about him the past few days, it was peculiar. 

  "No, Evan I'm serious Connor is alive!! I saw him with my own eyes!" I didn't believe it, how could I? Connor killed himself, and that's that. Of course I didn't think it was a good thing that Connor was gone, but I know for a fact that he's gone. I looked down only to realize that I'm shaking, a lot. He was just saying it to get into my head. Why can't I be normal? Just stop shaking, stop shaking, he's just messing with me..right! 

I built up some courage and exclaimed "Jared! It's not funny! Stop!" Before I could do or say anything else I sensed the tear that rolled down my cheek. Why was I making such a big deal out of this joke? I wasn't even that close with Connor.  Jared sounded sincere, but I kept pushing it on myself that it wasn't true. 

 I fell back into the wall, as he had pushed me a bit, I was trembling even more than before. "Listen to me!!" I jumped a bit as he yelled at me. 

  "Maybe..Um C-can you prove it, Jared?" I quietly suggested to him, I didn't want this to escalate anymore. 

 "Maybe if you would take two seconds and let me talk!" he grabbed my hand and flew up the stairs, even though he was pulling me, I struggled to keep up. We raced into his room before he slammed the door shut, and bolted his computer lid open "I heard about it from Alana, I got on and recorded it." he pulled up a video on the screen and pressed the play button. My eyes were glued to the reporters on the screen huddling around Connor, all squirming trying to ask their questions and get intel on what had happened. It ended, I sat there. 

  My eyes were wide, and I couldn't quite get a grip on what happened. I checked the date on the video, it was from earlier this morning, when I was in the session with Dr. Sherman. He was alive, what would he do if he found out about the Connor Project?! Or all the lies I told?!

  "You were right, Jared." I barely made out.
