Smiley's POV

"I'm sorry, but who are you?" Phil said...

"W-What do you mean 'who am I'? I-It's me... Smiley!" I said with tears in my eyes

"I'm sorry... I really am, but I can't remember anything. My head really hurts... like a train ran over it"

I was gonna explain what happened to him but the doctor gestured me to follow her outside the room...

"That was what I was gonna tell you before you hung up" the doctor said

"What'll happen now doc?" I asked in my worried tone

"The doctors are saying that if he can't remember anything by the end of January, next year, he probably won't remember anything at all..."

"It's December today... But that's a month from now!" I gasped when she said that

"We're sorry... We did the best we could... Maybe you could help him remember, with some of your friends..."

"You're right, we should help him remember who he is..."

We entered the room again and I said hi to Phil while wiping off my tears

"H-Hi Phil, I'm sorry about earlier, so let's start over... My name is Smiley, Smiley Sundae I'm your..." Should I say that I'm his girlfriend? That would make things awkward... "...b-best friend since elementary" I reached for his hand for a handshake

"Pleasure to meet you Smiley, and what's my name again? Phil?" He asked me with a curious tone

"Yep, your name is Phil Eggtree. You've been in a car crash, 2 weeks ago..."

"Well, that's a first..." He said

"I hate to interrupt but we're releasing you tomorrow so you can start to recall things"

"You hear that? I'm gonna help you remember all the things you've been through"

"Thanks, Smiley is it?"

"Yeah..."

"Thanks Smiley..."

"Anytime..." I smiled at him

"No wonder your name is Smiley... You're always smiling"

"Yes, yes I am"
