The trip

Woodland

I was heading towards the darker side of the forest even though I couldn't stand the deafening silence of it. The energy in that air was uncanny. My heart was beating too fast. It was bothersome. I couldn't go any further but I tried. I saw a dirty old rug covered with thick red blood. I was shivering with fear, all kinds of thoughts raced through my mind. I went a little further, uncovered it and saw a dead deer under that coverlet. I could hear the echo of  giant creature's footsteps. I felt that something was behind me, didn't know what to do, my heart was beating faster and faster. In no time a hand was on my shoulder, choking down fear I turned back it was my best friend, Faffy. Damn! I wanted to kill him right there for scaring the shit out of me and for laughing so hard after looking at my "Oh, God! Please Save Me" face, but i didn't after all he's my best friend, i kicked his ass though. We both took the firewood and headed for the cottage we took to stay, that wooden house was surreal  it's made of lightweight timber and looked very unique. 

My other friends catherine and Akshay were waiting for us, i described them what has transpired right from the beginning as soon as i entered the house, they all had a good laugh.  

Akshay and catherine picked a spot in the backyard of the house, grabbed a plenty of large pieces of fuel wood, dug a shallow pit and surrounded it with bricks and stones, after that they arranged the woods standing like a pyramid and placed leaves under and ignited the woods. After coming out of the house i saw this beautiful bonfire, Akshay and I went to get the lawn chairs while catherine was getting some snacks and a  cooler with plenty of ice in it. Faffy, the stupid wasn't helping anyone. There is nothing better than sipping on an ice cold beer, energy drink or a can of coke while sitting around a bonfire. We were singing songs, playing charades doing all kinds of stuff, It was wonderful - we had a ball! After sometime akshay was calling faffy but he didn't hear a word, he was lost in thought; we shook him, he finally responded with a question.

                     " Have u ever missed someone so much all you do is feel like crying?"

                       He had withdrawn into sullen silence for a while.

                    " I try not to miss her, but in the end, i still do", He said. 

A tear rolled down my cheek and more came down, he still loves her. Being a mutual friend i knew that she loved him, he loved her but it wasn't that simple. She loves him more than he'll ever know, He loves her more than he'll ever show. catherine asked him, " why don't you go back to her?"

 "If you truly love someone, then the only thing you want for them is to be happy. Even if it's not with you", He replied.

He didn't want to spoil the mood, in a flash he stoop up and started entertaining us. Akshay was uncontrollably laughing over the antics of that clown. It was Eleven o'clock in the night we decided to have rest of the fun later. Akshay and Catherine entered the house, while faffy and I put out the fire by dumping the remaining ice and water from our cooler over the fire, threw sand on it and extinguished it completely. "Let's go for a walk", Faffy said. We were walking towards south nd saw a fair complexion girl with long black hair, her deep-set black eyes looked at you like a puppy dog. Her red lips surrounded her mouth with perfect alabaster teeth, she has high cheek bones, her soft hands with short fingers terminated with polished mauve nails. She was 5' tall. It was Mai , my childhood friend and faffy's ex-girlfriend. He was teary, his eyes clearly said, "You mean so much to me, i can't imagine a life without you, I Love you so much, I really do". I could see that she wanted to scream and tell him how much she missed him, how did she spent the miserable mornings and never ending nights thinking of thousands of whys, ifs and hows. Deep down they both knew that they were supposed to be together but they just couldn't seem to make it work. It's complicated because they are humans who have a mind and a heart. I went and was seeing her stilly, i was so happy and shocked to see her. she said, " A long tight hug from you would be perfect right now". I wasn't sure whom she said it to. He greeted her with a smile, we all headed to the cottage there was an awkward silence on the way. Akshay and catherine were shocked after seeing mai and asked her how did she come and why didn't she come earlier when we told her about the trip. "There are moments in life when you miss someone so much that you want to hug them for real", She murmured. Catherine asked, "Mai, tell us what happened, why did you want to come now when you clearly told us that you weren't interested?". She replied, "I missed you people so much and wanted to spend time with you,  there were no reservations or second thoughts and HERE I AM!".

Akshay and I explained Mai about the trip nd the places we planned to explore, she clearly wasn't paying attention. Faffy and Catherine were chatting mean while akshay received a call i could see joy written all over his face i understood Naksh is about to come. A chant of 'We are Idiots! we are idiots! We are idiots!' made itself heard. That chant was soothing as it reminded us of our golden days.  It was Nakshhhh, a bundle of positive energy. The chant no longer soothed the pain within faffy and mai  as they thought of their own past. Even naksh was surprised to see mai there, he hugged everybody and was screaming at the top of his lungs.

Late at night when everyone was sleeping faffy was still awake lost in his thoughts nd mai didn't sleep too.       As someone rightly said, " Fight for the fairy tale it does exist".
