As all things begin, in the beginning, there was nothing. Then a being known as Seasorole took the nothing and created something and that something was the universe itself. Seasorole filled the universe with stars and worlds beyond imagination. One of these worlds was called Gaia and it was his favorite. The world itself was one of beauty. Though it resembled Earth, its colors were more vibrant. The grass was a deep emerald green and the skies were bluer than any Earth man could imagine as this particular shade of blue does not exist to them.
The beings he had created on this world, in a sense they were his children, had the potential to be more intelligent than others. When Gaia first formed there were only two main races. Men and the Trellanors. The men of Gaia were similar to those on Earth. The Trellanors resembled the wolves and foxes of Earth, but they were as intelligent as Man, if not more, and could walk upright. Over time, these races evolved and divided into subcategories. Some of the Trellanors evolved into elves, some of the men became halflings or dwarves.
For a time, the free people of Gaia lived in peace, but then something happened that Seasorole did not foresee. Seasorole's brother, Morlock, created a dark power of his own and engulfed the light of the creator of the universe. Morlock's power spread throughout the universe, but he focused his powers on his brother's favorite planet out of spite and hatred for Seasorole.
Gaia was plunged into darkness. A new, more powerful race that was under the control of Morlock emerged. The Scourge enslaved the free people of Gaia. They forced men, elves, and dwarves into labor while they treated the Trellanors like cattle. Whereas once the races on Gaia were pure of heart, after the Scourge came and spread their foul genes into the enslaved, Morlock would always have some sort of control over them. And thus, evil was born.
Though the threat of the Scourge and Morlock eventually passed and Gaia was rebuilt and renamed Monsmagoria, for the man who had liberated the people of Gaia was named Monsmagor, the taint never left. There were those who had accepted the ways of Morlock and had begun to follow in his footsteps. Monsmagoria would never be the same. Wars were fought, blood was shed.
One of the most famous wars in Monsmagoria's history was the War of Shadows. The dark lord Voordan rose to power in the kingdom of Summer and made the land foul. He studied the dark arts and The Book of Morlock among other forbidden tomes of which only a few copies existed. His reign affected the whole of Monsmagoria. He struck down Monsmagore V and Longlador, the Dwarven King. It seemed for the longest time that Monsmagoria was about to be plunged into another age of darkness, until Lord Trellanus VII forged a great blade from the Elemental Stones, a group of five stones of power created by Seasorole's first children, and defeated Voordan in battle.
After the War of Shadows, Lord Trellanus retired to the Forest of Trells along with his people and founded a church. The Trellanors became guardians of peace. They were consulted by kings and lords from all of Monsmagoria for a thousand years. Then, unexpectedly, the presence of Voordan returned and even stronger than before. His first goal was to utterly destroy the peace. Total genocide of the Trellanors and he nearly succeeded. Voordan destroyed all but two of the Trellanors, one male, one female. A Trellanor named Lionheart rose up, and with the Elemental blade, he killed Voordan once and for all. Wounded badly, he returned to the Forest of Trells and with his mate gave the race of the Trellanors new life. Monsmagoria has never faced a threat as large as Voordan and the Scourge since.
