Chapter 3

Kitty’s POV
Kim lifted both our suitcases like they were nothing. I followed behind my mum and him. We were taking a train to Fatropolis, where I’d be schooling well that is if I pass the entrance exams. I sat in the backseat “Kitty are you psyched to study at Magic Prestige?” mum asked looking at me throw the rear-view mirror. I nodded then Kim started the car and drove down the road silently, “do you know which hybrid you are Kitty?” she asked and I shook my head “is that gonna be a problem Kim?” she asked Kim “no before she takes the exam she’s get a full body scan and her hybrid would be told” Kim said “why are you being so quiet Kitty?” Kim asked “Brother it’s just that, I’m socially awkward what if I don’t make any friends? Or what if they bully me?” I mumbled to myself “ah you forget Kitty that you have the brother whom no one can beat at hand to hand combat, he’d definitely protect you from bullies sweetie right Kim?” mum asked him and he nodded. We arrived at the train station, I don’t know how a train station works because I have never even slept out of my home before.
My mum hugged Kim and I and kissed both our cheeks “here” she handed me a white purse with a sparkly pink heart shape jewel on it “what’s this for?” I asked “it’s the magical purse my mother gave when I was your age” she smiled “thanks mum” I smiled “this too” she put a necklace with only a star shaped pendant around my neck “it’d glow whenever danger close” she said. I hugged her one more time before we walked into the train. Kim placed our luggage somewhere above our heads. “What is it Kitty? Normally you’re free with me” he smiled slightly “uh nothing, it’s just there’s nothing to talk about” I smiled at him and he sighed. The train started and I became enthusiastic my first train ride.
After four hours we arrived, I felt really happy, we smiled at Mrs Griffin the lady sitting a few rows from us. She actually made Kitty open up to her.
We walked out of the station “should we get to school so you can take the entrance exam or do you wanna freshen up first?” brother asked “no I wanna go now” I replied smiling “just know you’d get your score today and move into the dorms, today” he said “brother I know that mum briefed me on the school yesterday” I replied “Kim Kirshner?” we heard a voice say and we spun around “John Bennett? What are you doing here?” Kim asked him. He was tall with brown hair and sapphire eyes, I couldn’t get my eyes off him “I just went to get groceries and I spotted you, who’s this?” he asked settling his eyes on me “this is my baby sister Kitty” Kim said “younger, I’m not a baby” I snapped “sure you’re not” Kim smirked “oh, I’m John” he said and I nodded.
John’s POV
I was typing my homework when my mum called me down “John could you help me go get groceries?” she asked “but I’ve got homework” I whined “John, now” she ordered.
I growled as I walked to my car, I got all the things on the list and started driving. I spotted my friend Kim Kirshner coming out of the train station with this really, really beautiful girl she was wearing a long sleeve light blue top which was tucked into her dark blue pleated dark blue skirt and sparkly white flats with her long pink hair in a ponytail and her purple sparkly eyes glimmering at Kim. I parked my car and walked up to them “Kim Kirshner?” I smiled they both turned to me “John Bennett? What are you doing here?”  He asked “I just went to get groceries and I spotted you, who’s this?” I asked smiling at her “this Kitty my baby sister” he said “younger, I’m not a baby” she snapped “oh I’m John” I said and she nodded. She turned her gaze to the floor “so what brings you to Fatropolis?” I asked “she’s taking the entrance exam to our school today” Kim said “are you her spokesman?” I asked Kim and he smirked “she’s shy” Kim said “no I’m not you guys just think I’m because I just don’t like talking” she said “you just talked” I said “well” she frowned then sighed “never mind” she shook her head. Well I just succeeded in annoying her “how old are you?” I asked “I’m sixteen” she said “really I thought you were eleven or so” I said “Brother please tell him to leave” she whined stomping her feet but her brother just laughed and patted her head “so do you guys want a ride to school?” I asked “sure” Kim answered. We walked to my car and Kitty sat at the back. “Hey you alright?” I asked her “I’m fine” she said smiling, oh my God she looked angelic to go with her beautiful voice. We reached school and I actually saw the enthusiasm in Kitty’s eyes. She literally jumped out of the car, she was just so close to her brother. We walked into the school and my neighbour Min-Seo, she’s Korean and also taking the entrance exam “Min-Seo? What are you doing here?” she turned to me and smiled then ran to us “uh John I told you I’m gonna be participating in the entrance exam to magic prestige high school yesterday” she snapped “oh sorry” I said scratching my nape awkwardly “Kim Kirshner? What are you doing here?” she asked. When school closed for the summer, Kim and I went to Min-Seo’s house and watched anime. “My sister’s gonna be doing the exam too” he said plainly “hi” Min-Seo said to Kitty “hi I’m Kitty” Kitty replied smiling again “so what’s your power?” Kitty asked Min-Seo “illusions and self-duplication” she said “so Kitty huh, did all the names in universe get used up?” she teased Kitty “Min-Seo, don’t be a badass” I snapped “it’s okay don’t be a grumpy pants” se winked stinking her tongue at me. “it’s actually short for Katherine and Min-Seo sounds like an insult so you’re not one to talk” Kitty said “that’s so not like you” Kim told her “telling the truth is like me and that’s what I just did” she smiled “last calling for those participating in the exam” a voice boomed out of the speakers “let’s go” I said and we walked to the auditorium on the top floor. We walked in and the placed had up to twenty people inside “Min-Seo Yang” the lady at the stand on top the stage said. Min-Seo clasped her hands together “I gotta go” she smiled then ran to the stage. The lady and Min-Seo walked behind a few curtains and in a few minutes Min-Seo walked out all jolly like “I did it! I got in!” she screeched “congratulations Min-Seo” I said then she leaped into my arms.
Kitty’s POV
As John and Min-Seo cuddled the lady at the stand called my name “I guess I’m up” I said “good luck” John said to me. I nodded then walked to the stage, the lady smiled at me “hello pretty girl your Katherine?” she asked “yeah but people call me Kitty” I said. We walked behind the curtain “do you know your hybrid?” she asked and I shook my head. We walked towards this machine that looked like a shower stall “step in” she said and I obeyed. This blue laser scanned my body up and down twice “you can step out now” I heard her say and I did. The machine started analysing then the answer showed. It wowed the both of us “creation hybrid?” she smiled then hugged me “oh then can we start the exam?” she asked “you don’t get it do you? You don’t need an exam you’re a creation hybrid” she said then pulled me outside “people we have a creation hybrid” she said through the speaker and murmuring broke out.
I walked towards Min-Seo, John and Kim “your creation hybrid?” Min-Seo asked “why is everyone getting so worked up about that?” I asked “creation hybrids can be born like once in a hundred years and they can create any weapon or power they want” John told me “really?” I asked “year their really special” Kim said “well it’s almost five we better head to the dorm” Kim said and we all got in the car “Min-Seo what about your things?” I asked her “my mum’s gonna get it” she replied “oh John can I sit at the front?” I asked him “sure” he replied smiling.
We got the dorms. They buildings were huge, two buildings behind the main school. “Are boys allowed in the girl’s dormitory” I asked “yeah at some hours” John said as we climbed up a bunch of stairs after meeting this lady at a counter apparently Min-Seo this other girl and I are gonna be roommates. We walked into this spiffy room with three huge beds with canopies, three dressers and three closets. A girl with long brown hair was sitting at a bed “Min-Seo!” she screeched when she saw us, she and Min-Seo hugged each other “hi Yoshiko” Min-Seo said to her. I passed them and Brother helped me place my suitcase on the bed close to the window because the other two were close to each other and Min-Seo would want the one close to her friend “hmm John how have you been?” the girl asked John “I’m fine, I do have to go give my mum the groceries she sent me to go get though” he said then walked out of the room. I opened the window and my necklace started glowing, what could be the danger? Then someone threw ninja spikes at me but Brother pounced on me. I screamed tightening my eyes, I opened my eyes and Brother was kneeling over me pinning me down “never open the doors at this time or birds would fly in” the girl snapped so she had thrown the spikes how rude. I turned to Brother and he was still kneeling over me “and Kim you look like your harassing that girl” the girl teased and I blushed because we did look like we were about to do it but without my consent. Kim didn’t look embarrassed at all, he just climbed off me “ah Yoshiko you always had a dirty mind” he said then stretched his hand to me. I took it and he yanked me up, “how would birds fly in?” I asked “I was just kidding” she smirked “oh I’m Yoshiko Wong by the way” she said “I’m Kitty Kirshner, Kim’s younger sister” Kitty said. The door opened revealing a girl with black hair “hey newbies, principal Wilson said I should call you down for a uniform fitting don’t be late” she said “oh hey Kim what are you doing here?” she asked “that’s my sister Kitty” Brother replied “hi I’m Gretchen” she smiled at me “well you guys better get going” she said then disappeared as John reappeared “so did my mum come with my bags?” Min-Seo asked Yoshiko “yeah I unpacked for you already I was really bored” Yoshiko said “uh you better get to that fitting” Kim said leaving the room “I’d see you during dinner Kitty bye” he said then disappeared through the door. Min-Seo, Yoshiko and I walked downstairs and met other girls stepping into a machine and coming out wearing a uniform then they go collect a bag from this lady. The lady who had scanned me before who was also Principal Wilson smiled at me. It was my turn to get fitted for my uniform, I stepped in and in a few seconds came out in a pleated deep blue skirt reaching mid-thigh and a blood red long sleeve shirt with a white blazer with black knee-high boots no tie, the blazer had a patch on the left side of my chest, it had the picture of a daisy on it which I guess was creation hybrid. I walked to the lady and she gave me a bag but it just contained four other uniforms. Min-Seo and Yoshiko came to me, Yoshiko’s patch had a sword on it, Weapons user while Min-Seo’s patch was a wand, PS hybrid “what hybrid are you?” Yoshiko asked “creation” I said “really? That’s so cool” she smiled “hey I’m Iris Vanderguard” a girl with blonde hair reaching her back, sapphire eyes and freckles walked up to us. She had a patch with a sword so she was a weapons hybrid “hi Iris, I’m Yoshiko” Yoshiko smiled “Min-Seo” Min-Seo smiled. Iris turned to me, I looked at them and started walking away “uh wait up” Iris ran to me “is something wrong?” she asked “wow you’re really pretty” she said “um thanks sorry about before I just don’t like talking much” I said and her eyes widen “wow your voice is angelic” she said and I blushed on top of my blush “thank you, I’m Katherine but you can call me Kitty Kirshner” I said “Kitty Kirshner? You don’t have any relations to Kim Kirshner do you?” she asked “I do his my older brother” I said “wow your both hot though” she winked “how do you know him, you’re a freshman right?” I asked “well, I ran into him in the hall a few hours ago, his really mysterious the kind of boys I like” Iris said “Brother doesn’t have any interest in girls I don’t know why” I said. She looked at my patch “what hybrid is that?” she asked sticking her chin towards my patch “I’m creation hybrid” I said “really? That’s so cool your one of a kind Kitty” she said “oh” I said then this bell rang “it’s dinner time all freshman please go change and go to the lunch room for dinner” she said “oh come on what room are you?” Iris asked “west wing B5” I replied “I’d come over there when I’m done changing so we could walk to the lunch room together” she said. I walked to the room and packed my uniforms into the closet and changed into a purple short sleeveless pleated dress. Yoshiko and Min-Seo chatted while they changed into jeans and tops, when heard a knock on the door I opened it “hey Iris” I smiled then we walked out of the room. She was wearing a red dress, we walked into the lunch room “boys and girl eat together?” I smiled “yeah” Iris smiled. We walked across the room “hey Kitty” we turned around and it was John, Kim and a few other boys sitting at this long rectangular table. We sat with them “hey” I said “you settled in?” Kim asked “yes, this is Iris” I said “hey Iris” Kim said “hi I’m Mark” a guy with black hair and sapphire eyes smiled at me “Kitty” I said “time to eat students” a voice boomed out of the speaker then plates of food, fruits and desserts appeared on the table “whoa” I said “right?” Iris said eyeing the food. Kim took scampi and everyone started taking their food “aren’t you eating?” Kim asked me “oh yeah” I said then took the taco salad and milk. I ate slowly “don’t you like your food kitty?” Mark asked “no I do a lot” I smiled “your voice is really” Mark started “really what?” I asked putting a fork of food in my mouth “really lovely” he said and I smiled “thanks” I said as Kim took an ice cream sundae “John” I said “yeah” he looked up from his veggie burger “hey” I smiled “hey Kitty” he smirked back then continued eating.
John’s POV
Kitty took an apple then it disappeared from here hand and appeared in Marks hand “huh” Kitty frowned at Mark. She stretched her hand to Mark and the apple flew from his hand towards Kitty “whoa” he said as Kitty giggled then took a bite from the apple “telekinesis huh? Cool” Mark said “your first power cool” Kim praised his sister “what?” Mark raised an eyebrow “she’s creation hybrid” Kim said and Mark’s eyes widen “whoa lucky, that so awesome your like he queen of magic” Mark said and Kitty gasped “please don’t” she said “hmm?” Mark asked “I really don’t like that” Kitty said. Humble cool, “ahem, Kitty take notes of the powers you create though” I said “yeah, thanks John” she smiled getting up “excuse me” she said then left.
After I was done, I walked with Kim and Mark to our dorm room, we were roommates. “What’s that?” Mark asked looking at the gathering of three girls, Doris, Breanna and Lori the school sluts. We walked up to them, “what are you doing?” Mark asked and they made way for us, there was a girl kneeling down in their mist, she was panting and sniffling and holding her stomach, she had pink hair and I couldn’t see the colour of her eyes because she was closing her eyes and crying. It was Kitty, “Kitty?” I asked shocked. She looked up at me with shaky purple eyes. Kim helped her up and she grabbed his shirt lightly and cried into his chest and he stroked her hair. I looked at Kim and he looked like he was about to murder someone then three roots came out of the ground and grabbed the girls necks strangling them and lifting them off the ground and they screamed “how dare you?” Kim glared at them “Kim just stop their not worth it” Mark said. Kim was a little reluctant at first but soon the roots disappeared and the girls fell to the floor then scrambled off “Kitty are you alright?” Mark asked Kitty stealing my thunder.
Kitty’s POV
I walked down the hall. A girl walked towards me “who are you?” she snapped, I looked at the ugly brunette girl in front of me. I blinked at her then walked past her, she grabbed my hair and pulled me on my knees “ugh!” I growled as she kicked my stomach. A few other girls came and slapped me and kicked my stomach. Thy stopped and I held my stomach that was really stinging, I started crying, “Kitty?” I looked up at John, Mark and Kim. Kim helped me up and I grabbed his shirt lightly and cried into his chest and he stroked my hair.  I buried my face in his shirt then started hearing strangling sounds and screaming “how dare you?” Kim said in a deadly tone “Kim just stop their not worth it” John said then a loud thud followed and feet scrambling “Kitty are you alright?” Mark asked me I opened my eyes and nodded “Kitty you should get back to your dorm” Kim said “I’d walked you” Mark said. I smiled.
“Thanks Mark” I smiled, he waved at me then walked off. I closed the door and walked to my bed. Min-Seo and Yoshiko were chatting away “I should have had that ice-cream sundae now I’m having cravings” I said getting the bag my mum got for me “well why didn’t you?” Yoshiko asked “I don’t know” I said. I opened the bag and saw a red spark “what’s this?” I asked myself then grabbed it and pulled out an ice-cream sundae “what?” I shook in fear “whoa that’s a one of a kind ‘reach for it’ purse anything the owner wants you just reach into the bag and presto it’s in your hands” Min-Seo said “I read a lot of bag catalogues” she added “hmm that’s cool” I said getting up and putting the purse in the closet “so are you eating that sundae?” Yoshiko asked “sure we could share” I smiled and in a few minutes the cup was empty. I unpacked my suitcase then looked out the window. John and Mark were playing with a flying Frisbee, John looked up and waved and I smiled and waved back. “Who are you waving at” Min-Seo asked coming to the window “hey John!” she yelled waving. John smiled at her “hey Min-Seo, hey Yoshiko” he said “you wanna play with us?” Mark asked “no thanks” Min-Seo said “me too” Yoshiko said “I wanna play, I’d be right down” I said then left the window “but you’re a girl” Min-Seo said “so what?” I asked holding the doorknob “so you’d just,” Min-Seo frowned “bye” I said slamming the door behind me. I walked downstairs and another guy with Kim had joined them “hey, you playing?” Kim asked “uh-huh” I said as Min-Seo and Yoshiko ran to us “I hope you weren’t about to start without us” Min-Seo said “but I though you said that-” I started but Min-Seo grabbed the Frisbee from the fourth guy and tossed it at me and it smacked me really hard on my lip “Ow!” I snapped “oh sorry Kitty” Min-Seo said but she didn’t sound the least bit sorry “are you alright?” John asked “yeah, I got a bloody lip but I can manage” I smiled.
Min-Seo POV
Ugh! She’s so cheesy and fake. Kitty disappeared and reappeared beside Mark and he threw his arm around her shoulder “you should stop doing that” Kitty said to him “what if I don’t want to?” Mark smirked “so your power is teleportation?” Kitty asked him “hi I’m Connor, Kitty? You’re the creation hybrid girl?” the guy who I collected the Frisbee from said “yeah” Kitty smiled “I’ve heard a lot about you” Connor said “I hope good things” Kitty said “did we come here to chit chat or play some Frisbee?” I snapped.
After so many rounds of Frisbee everyone was tired. Kitty and John we’re talking like crazy. She’d giggle and touch his arm. Why can’t I and he be like that? “Yoshiko let’s go upstairs” I said to her “but John is right there just find a topic that Kitty can’t chime in on and boom she walks away and your talking like non-stop” Yoshiko advised. I nodded then sat with them “what are you two talking about?” I asked “oh John was just filling me in on some of your crazy stunts and pranks” Kitty smiled “oh remember that time when we dropped that grapefruit out my bedroom window?” I smiled “yeah no one still know that it was us” he smiled at me “well except Kitty now I guess” he turned to Kitty “remember when we flushed those burritos we ordered but your mum forced us to eat it because it cost eight nine dollars down the toilet?” I reminded “you guys flushed eight nine dollars down the toilet? And the toilet didn’t get clogged?” Kitty asked “it did, water flooded the bathroom” John said amused at Kitty. Every word she uttered just amused him and her too “that’s really crazy” Kitty said “so what’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done?” John asked her “my life is pretty boring the only thing fascinating about me is that my IQ is two hundred” Kitty said “really? Mine’s a hundred and ninety nine” John said. Mine’s like fifty six and that’d be embarrassing. I got up and walked away to Yoshiko “what? I thought you were hitting it off” Yoshiko said “yeah but they’re both technically geniuses and now they’re talking about smart stuff let’s just go to the dorm room” I snapped and she followed me. I opened the door and slammed it behind me “why did she have to show up?!” I snapped “well she wants to pass magic school” Yoshiko said and I frowned at her “sorry” she winced. I turned my gaze to the purse sitting on Kitty’s bed, I grabbed it “what are you doing?” Yoshiko asked me “well since she stole what’s dear to me which is John I’m gonna steal her darling purse” I said then dropped it back on the bed “I think it’s too much” Yoshiko said “you don’t need to think, nothing good ever comes out of it” I snarled “just no we’re both equal in this relationship you’re not superior to me” Yoshiko frowned “whatever” I rolled my eyes “attention students it’s five minutes till lights out please move into your rooms” a voice boomed out of the speakers.
Kitty walked into the room as Yoshiko and I finished getting into our PJs. Kitty walked into the bathroom and changed into a pyjama trousers and a blue top “attention students it’s light out” a voice boomed out of the speaker. We got in our beds and placed the duvets to our shoulders.
I woke up in the middle of the night and woke Yoshiko up “shush” I whispered “is it time already?” she whined “yeah go get the purse” I ordered. She stumbled out of her bed and moved slowly towards Kitty’s bed.
