Beep! Beep! Beep! I awaken to the sound of the alarm ringing in my ear.
"What day is it?" I mumbled, spitting and brushing away the strands of hair that were stuck to my mouth. Peering through the slits of my squinting eyes, I look over to my bedside table and read the blinking characters on the digital clock as it continues to holler.
Monday
5:30 am
Before the world could end from the noise, I clicked off the alarm and jumped out of bed, not even bothering to make it and just left it in a rampaging mess.
"Eh, I'll fix it later." I waved my hand at the mess, as if that my hand had some sort of ability to make my bed make itself. Of course it doesn't do a thing. Instead, I grab a hair tie from the stand next to me, and do the best I can in attempt to turn my scraggly hair into a messy bun, or a messed up, backward unicorn horn looking disaster.
After trying, I headed downstairs, into my family's bakery kitchen, where all the yummy goods are made. I'm not allowed to touch any of the kitchen appliances here, just for safety reasons. Which by the way, isn't concerning about my safety. It's more for the building, Haru, and Dad's sake. Yeah, I can't cook. Really.
My only job in the kitchen is to clean. Cleaning both the bakery and the kitchen. It's the one of the most decent things I can do to help around in this bakery, other than wait and serve the tables and prepare drinks (as long as it doesn't require a knife or stove).
Once that's all done, I can finally get ready for school.
I walk past Haru and Dad's room, to the bathroom, then noticed that their door was open and that they were still fast asleep, with their legs spread in different directions, Haru holding a pillow in between his arms, Dad snoring, and their beds a mess. It was 6:45. They should've been awake 15 minutes ago! Why are they still asleep? Then, in the middle of their beds was the bedside table they had with their alarm clock, which was off. That could only mean one thing... They were watching anime last night without me! There was only one plug in that room, and they used that plug for their alarm or their floor T.V. I was slightly disappointed they hadn't invited me to watch One Piece that night, but that was not very important at the moment.
I walked over to Haru's bed first and shook his shoulder. "Haru! Wake up!"
He began to stir, shaking my hand off his shoulder and digging his face into his pillow.
"Ah~." I sighed, grabbing hold of the pillow that was caught in the doorway and walked over Haru's bed and slammed his head with the pillow. "Wake up!"
Nothing.
I started bashing the pillow on his head harder and speaking louder. "Wake up!"
Again, nothing.
"That's it. You leave me no choice." I got near the end of the bed and started tickling his weak spots. The bottom of his foot and knee.
"Yah~!" Haru moans, lazily trying to kick my hand away from his foot. "Leave me alone, Aya!" he kicks one last time before drifting off to sleep again.
"Come on! Just wake up already! Or else there'll be nothing to sell at the bakery today!"
"Can we just close the shop for the day?"
"Huh?" Dad groans, his eyes squinting at the scene. "What about closing the shop?"
"It's too early~!" Haru whines.
"Haru, you've been doing this since you were 8. Now get yourself together!" I shake his shoulder vigorously.
Guess I'll have to take out the big guns.
