I maneuvered through different crowds of congregated people, most of them I didn't know. The thought of over crowding my life with to many faces set my teeth on edge. Yes, I have friends but maybe ten at the most. I didn't like the thought of everyone knowing my name and life story. I focused more on my education and future - and the fantasy relationship I have in my dreams, but no one needed to know that.
I began up a flight of stairs to my class, which happened to be AP Literature - I love the language arts. But the teacher, I've heard so many things about this woman...Miss Collins. She was rumored to be the hardest teacher in the entire school, which had me slightly concerned. Granted I wouldn't have to much trouble getting an A in her class, I didn't want to have to struggle in getting that A.
The room was dark, it seemed that she hadn't turned the lights on, or maybe it was that she taught in the dark? I guess that could be cool? I mean it's not like we can't see or anything it's just dimly lit, and the only light that allowed us to see was the light that fell through the line of windows on the wall. "Jaron!" I heard come from behind me. I turned to find the source of the voice that called out my name, and came to see a short - beautiful- dark hairs girl. Her green eyes glowed in the dark room, and her loose-fit red blouse and black jeans brought out the slight paleness of her skin.
"Abby!" I said happily! Wait what is she doing in my class? It's only for seniors. "Abby? Why are you in AP lit?" I asked genuinely confused.
"I'm your TA!" She proclaimed. What? Really! Yes! My year was going to be awesome, my best friend was in one of my classes.
"Really? Yay!" I said as I hugged her. Abby was probably one of the few people - other than my brother - that I actually got excited to see and be with. She was my other half, my crazed best friend. The two of us told each other everything, and I mean everything. Well I haven't told her about my dreams...but other than that, she knew everything. She and I had met my seventh grade year, and haven't stoped talking since. She was literally my best friend.
Now she was going to be in my class, this had never happened before, but now that it has...that made me so happy. I was surprised I was able to contain my excitement, I could feel it. The warm tingle of a scream that wanted to erupt from my mouth bubbling, no scratch at the bottom of my throat. "Yep! I'll be helping Miss Collins with whatever she asks me to do, sorting her filing cabinet, copying work, grading tests and I expect nothing but As' from you Mister!" She laughed.
There it was...her passive aggressive love for me. Ah...how i missed it so much this summer! But now she's her in my class all year, and so I'll get to see her everyday! "Oh trust me. That's all you'll see on my tests!" I proclaimed.
Ring.
The bell begging first period sounded, and entering through the door was who I suspected was Miss Collins. A woman of about five feet and three inches waltzed through the doorway. She wore a loose, flowing, crimson dress with a black sweater and a pair of black flats. Wow! She's actually really pretty. "Alright class! It's the begging of your journey with me, and I'm going to have to warn you it won't be easy." She said enthusiastically. And she's very loud and...what's the word for it? Bold? Yeah that's it, bold. "You all received a summer reading list for my class, and now...we're going to have a test!" She explained. The class erupted in utter shock and surprise. I didn't, this actually made me happy! A chance to show the hardest teacher in school that my intelligence was a force to reckon with.
Miss Collins passed out the tests, which consisted of a fifty questions, and five pages both front and back. I see why people say she's hard...this is a little to zeal. "You have the entire period to complete the test." She explained, "you may begin." A sly smirk covered her face. The sound of pen and pencils caressing paper sounded. After I had finished writing my name, the date, and class period; I began my test, but soon realized that all her questions were short answer or essay prompts. Whoa this woman is serious, and must have some free time if she can sit down and read all these answers. But that made no difference for me, I was going to finish and pass with flying colors.
Ring.
Class had came to its end. My classmates and I all rushed Miss Collins's desk, turning in our tests. It was actually easier than I thought it would be. Though I was expecting her to ask these complex questions, asking us to like compare how can you compare the events that took place in the Odyssey to that of real life? But most were comprehensive questions, but she just asked that we delve into more detail.
After returning to my desk and retrieving my back pack, I headed for the door so that I could go to my next class. "Jaron!" I heard Abby call out to me before I could reach the door. I stood aside allowing people to pass by while I waited for Abby. She jumped to my side with such enthusiasm I flinched. "So how do you think you did on the test?" She asked me.
"I knew all the answers," I laughed, "what were you expecting?"
"Nothing but the best from you!" She said boldly. Abby and I walked at each other's side, filling each other in on our summer breaks and what all that happened. She had gone to England! That's so cool! I on the other hand had twenty three books to read for AP, so unfortunately my summer wasn't that eventful.
Close to the begging of second period Abby and I parted ways...yay alone again! I thought sarcastically.
The rest of the day went by agonizingly slow. I felt as if I were a slug covered in salt, praying, awaiting my inevitable end. Then, before I knew it, the bell rang. Hallelujah! I found myself rushing out of my last period class. The clicking of my boots filled the hallway as I trotted towards the parking lot. God, I hope Mich is there...I don't want to have to wait.
My hopes weren't in vain, because there he was. Michel stood at the back end of my truck. Thank God! We can go home...to be honest I just wanted to go home. I didn't want to stay here any longer than I had to. The drive from school was short, but I had to make dinner for the two of us, and then I had to shower - thank god i didn't have homework! - and then after my shower was...the one thing I looked forward to, sleeping.
