It's been two months and I still can't get Amy to talk to me. All she does is look at me and walk away. I don't know how much of this I can take. I also have a meeting today about my show with big TV networks to prove to them that they want this show on their network. I wish that I had someone besides my boss to talk to about this. If the network wants my show then we have to get production managers and we need money for the show and then we can start auditions. That all could take up to a year. I want this to happen so bad, this is my dream.I'm outside the meeting room door pacing back and forth. What if they don't like my idea, what if they shut me down? My boss walks up to me and grabs my shoulders to stop me from pacing.
"Stop pacing. If they open that door they will see that you are nervous. You need to at least act confident, even if you aren't. You need to be confident that this is a show they want on their network. Plus, you pacing makes me nervous."
"You're right. I'm sorry. I just want this to go really well."
"You just need to sell it. I will be in there but this will be all you."
I nod my head and sit down. As soon as I sit down they open the door.
"Ryan, we are ready for you."
I get up and smile. Time to act confident.
"So, what are you bringing to us today?" says a man that is at the end of the table.
"I have a new show that I think, no, I know that you will like."
"Proceed."
"Setting is in a college in California. Beth wants to be a fashion designer and she thinks that this is the year is the year. Her boyfriend Joe is her support system and he moved with her from Georgia to California just so she could fulfill her dream. Joe has made a friend at his college and introduces her to Beth. Sam, who is Joe's friend, has lived in California her whole life and wants to be a hacker in the FBI. This show will shows their story which will have its ups and downs."
"Why would we choose this show, it is so different from all the other shows on this network."
"That is why you should choose it. People like difference. If they see this show they will wonder why it is on this network and watch it to see. After they watch it I can promise you they will want more."
The man sits there and thinks. He looks at everyone.
"Let's vote."
Everyone writes on paper and pass it down to the man. He looks at every piece and counts it up. He stands up and walks over to me. When he gets to me he sticks his hand out to shake my hand.
"Congratulations on your new show." he says shaking my hand.
"Thank you so much! You won't regret it."
"I hope not."
It has been a three months and we have started auditions for my new show. Today we are searching for a Beth. I have to read my script with every person who might be Beth. It is going to be a long day but it will keep my mind off the fact that Amy is still not talking to me.
"We are bringing in the first person, you ready?" My producer says as he is opening the door not even waiting for an answer from me.
"Hi, my name is..."
We are on our last person today and I don't think anyone was the right Beth. They were all good actors but just not the right one.
"Hi, I'm Parker Jones and I am here to audition for Beth."
I look up and see a girl with dark hair and she was wearing a leather jacket and she had on red lipstick. She looked really familiar.
"Okay, you can start whenever you are ready."
She looks at her script and back at me.
"Where are we going?"
"I said it was a surprise. Me telling you would ruin the whole surprise part of it now wouldn't it?"
"I hate surprises. I only came along because Joe wanted me to spent time with you."
"Wow, I'm really hurt. You could at least act like you like me. That's what I'm doing."
"Oh, really? I saw you checking me out."
"Whoa, I already told you, I have a girlfriend. Anyways, I would never check you out, you're not all that."
"Wow, so you weren't just staring at this amazing ass?"
"Nope."
"Okay, whatever you say."
"We're here. Joe said that you have never been to a beach."
"Wow, it's beautiful."
"Yeah, your welcome. I'll be over there so you can enjoy your time." I say as I start to walk across the room.
"Wait," she grabs my hand and it felt so warm and familiar, I look at our hands. "You don't have to. I told Joe that I would hang out with you. We can take a walk."
I forgot we were reading a script for a second but then I remembered that I had a line.
"You might want to take your shoes off."
"So, how did you and Joe meet?"
"Oh, we are in the same science and math class."
"So your smart?"
"Did you think I was dumb?"
"Uh, no, that's not what I meant."
She then acts like she tripped and fell on the ground.
"Ouch! I tripped over a sea shell."
I start to laugh and squat down.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, it scared me more than it hurt me."
She looks up at me and we make eye contact. We get lost in each other's eyes for a few seconds and I pull away.
I clear my throat, "Well maybe you should watch where you're going and you won't get scared by another seashell."
That was the end of the scene.
"Thanks, Parker, we'll reach you as soon as we can."
She smiles and walks out the door. I sit in my chair and try to wrap my head around what just happened.
"I think she is the one. You guys had a connection. Did you know her?"
I shake my head. I have never seen her in my life, but she looked so familiar.
