Chapter 1

Kenzie's POV

 My eyes burst open to the sound of a moving truck next door. "What the hell! It's 8:00 A.M on a freaking Saturday". I say to myself as I get up and get dressed. I stomped  my way downstairs and see my mom in the kitchen making breakfast.

"Good morning Sweetheart" she said. "Is it really though?" I said back. "I'm guessing you got woken up by the movers. "Sadly, yes" I said in a grumpy voice. "Well cheer up honey, i'm making you and your brother your favorite breakfast."  My eyes lit up. "CHOCLATE CHIP PANCAKES WITH STRAWBERRIES ON TOP?!?!?!"  "Well what else would it be sweetie" said my mom.  "I knew there was a reason I loved you so much" I said as I threw my arms around her  and kissed her cheek.  "Go get your brother up honey."  

    I sighed and walk upstairs to my brother's  room. I bust open the door "Myles get your ass up now mom made breakfast"  "What the hell Kenzie, why are you so freaking rude in the morning" said Myles. "Shut up and get dressed before i punch your face in." I said back.

      "You're such a bitch" Myles said under his breath. "What'd you say Myles?"  "Ummm... I said I love you and you're the best sister in the world." Myles said back. "Nice save smart ass". I said back to him. "Now hurry up and get dressed " 

     I walked back downstairs to see the new family in our living room. I tried to sneak back up to my room but it didn't work. "Kenzie, come meet the White family" said mom. "Damnit" I said to myself quietly. Did I forget to mention that i'm a very socially awkward person? Well I am, and I am terrible at meeting new people.

   I slowly walked down to the stairs and stood next to my mom. "Honey, Meet the Whites" Said my mom. "Hi" I said very quietly without looking up at them. "Hi, I'm Kalin" I immediately look up to see this beautiful boy standing in from of me. "Hi, I'm Mckenzie, but everyone just calls me Kenzie." I said trying not to freak out inside. "Well it's nice to meet you Kenzie" Said Kalin. "You too" I said back.  "Honey go get your brother" said my mom "Alright." I said while running up the stairs.

     "Myles what are you doing?" I said as I opened his door. "OH MY GOD WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!?!?" I see Myles standing in front of his mirror butt ass naked swinging his thing around in circles. "KENZIE! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING! GET OUT!" Myles starting screaming at me. I didn't know what to say to him, so I just slowly closed the door laughing.

     "Umm Mom, Myles is gonna be a couple minutes, he has a little situation going on right now" I said laughing as I walked downstairs. I saw Kalin smiling at me and my heart just melted. "So... Kalin how old are you?" "I'm 19, how old are you" he said. "I'm 19 also" I replied back to him. "Wow...Cool." he said back to me. "So are you in college?" "No." Said Kalin "I'm actually trying to get into singing." "Wow, that's very cool, I wish I could sing" "Oh my god... did I really just say that?" I thought to myself. 

     "Hey guys.... Sorry it took a little bit to for me to get down here mom" Said Myles. "Mhmm.... Myles meet the White's" Hey, I'm Myles" "Nice to meet you... I'm Kalin". They "dabbed it up". That's what my brother calls it anyway. Myles looked back at me and gave me a big grin and whispered in my ear "Kalin and Kenzie sittin in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G" I punched him in the stomach and all you heard was an "UGHHHH" Kalin started laughing and so did I "Dang Kenzie, you know how to punch" "Well, I had to since I grew up with two older brothers. "It was learn how to punch or get farted on" I said back.  "Well, i'm very impressed Kenz." "Oh my god, did he really just call me Kenz" I said to myself, My heart literally melted. All I could do was smile at him. "So Kalin, do you wanna come up and see my room?" Said Myles. I have a little recording studio up there." Seriously, Of course dude!" Kalin said back to Myles. 

      Kalin is in Myles room with him and I am sitting in the living room dreaming about Kalin. Those eyes, that perfect smile, those lips. GOD I WANT TO KISS THOSE LIPS! Damnit Kenzie you need to stop you can't be thinking about Kalin like this. He's your neighbor. If you guys dated and broke up it would be so awkward" To try and get my mind off of Kalin, I went upstairs to my room and started writing.  I started singing "Make it stop, sound so good I just can't take no more. Turn it down turn it up, But don't stop, don't move. Just keep it there, Keep it right there, keep it right there." As soon as I stopped I heard someone clapping. I turned around and there was Kalin. "KALIN, WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN HERE?" I was so embarrased that I could barely even look at him. "That was amazing Kenzie" Said Kalin "You really think so?" I replied  back. "Yes, I do." he said. "You should start singing more, you're amazing." Kalin came into my room and put his hands on my shoulder. "Kenzie, look at me." he said.  I looked up at him and I couldn't believe that he was standing so close to me. "You're an amazing singer, don't ever stop. Ok" All I could do was smile. "Alright Kalin." He bent down and kissed me on the cheek then left. 

      Wow... Did that really just happen" Was the only thing  I could think to myself. I put my fingers on my cheek and I immediately melted. "Kalin why do you have to do this to me??" I'm trying to not like you right now! You're making it so hard." I was so mad but so happy I didn't know what to think. I honestly think i'm in love with this guy and I haven't even known him for a day. "WHY THE HELL ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME HEART!" I said to myself as I flopped on the bed. I just laid there face down in my pillow for what felt like hours.

         Finally I grabbed my phone and called Shannon. I dialed her number and it started ringing. "Please Shan pick up, Please pick up." I said to myself. "Hello" I heard Shannon say as she picked up the phone. I was so relieved to hear her voice. "Kenzie, are you there? Hello" "Yea i'm here Shan, sorry i'm in my own world today. "It's alright  Kenz, What's up? I haven't heard from you in a while" She said. 'Yea sorry about that, I've been really busy. I just had to call and tell you about our new neighbors." Did I forget to tell you that Shannon was my neighbor until last year when she moved for college? We were together all the time. We had been friends since we were in diapers. But now she's in Florida now and i'm stuck in California by myself. "Kenz, what the hell is going on? You said something then completely drifted off."  "Damnit, sorry Shan, what I was going to tell you was somebody moved into your house finally. "Seriously, I thought that place would never sell." She said. "Well, see the reason why I was calling you was because this guy moved in. I told her. "Details girl, give me details". She replied back to me. "Well, his name is Kalin, he's 19, mixed beautiful eyes,  and has an amazing smile." I honestly think i'm in love with him and I haven't even known him a day. "He-" Hold on girl slow down!" she said to me. You think you're in love with him? Girl you need to get the fuck out of you feelings. You're still upset about the breakup and now putting all your attention on someone else." Shannon said to me. " I know Shan, but I can't help it. He's so much better then dick head. He kissed me on the cheek and I literally melted, I need help Shan, I don't know what to do." Listen Kenz, you need to calm down and distance yourself from this boy before you get hurt again. I love you and I don't want you to get your heart broken again." "This is why I love you Shan, I'm gonna try and get some sleep. I will call you in the morning."

    The next day I got up and heard laughing from Myles room. I got up and went into his room. There Kalin was laughing with Myles. I literally screamed, slammed the door and ran into my room. I looked into the mirror and damn was I looking gross. My makeup is completely down my face, My hair is a tangled mess.

     Literally as I was undressing to get into the shower I heard a knock "Kenz, It's Kalin can I come in?" "No, not right now... I'm kinda busy." "Oh, alright." I could hear the sadness in his voice when he said that. I could hear him walking away. Finally I said, "Kalin wait, give me a second." I got dressed and opened the door. There was Kalin standing right outside waiting for me. "Hey Kalin, What's up?" I said to him. "Nothing, I was just wondering why you ran out of Myles room so fast." I just laughed and said. "Do you see me right now?" "Yes, you look beautiful." he replied back. I could feel my cheeks start to burn. He started laughing and said "Don't get all red Rudolph." I tried to hit him but he grabbed my arm and pulled me into him. Then, he whispered in my ear  "You're beautiful Kenz, don't ever change." He kissed me on the cheek and then walked away. 

     I was in such shock that it took me a minute to figure out where I was. I shut my door and fell to the ground. I didn't know what to think or even say. After about 5 minutes of being in complete shock I stood up and grabbed my cellphone. I knew I had to call Shannon and quick
