I really, really don't like this "holding hands" trash. Why do I have to hold Ava's hand? She just drags me around. Can't we just stand next to each other? Why can't that happen? It would be a whole lot less suspicious, and I wouldn't have to see whatever is covering the walls and floor and everything. We even went outside because one of the classes we have together is in a different building, and it was all weird. It looked like aliens were invading and changing our world into theirs'.
Okay, let me be honest. I was beginning to get used to holding Ava's hand already. As surprised as I am, a part of me enjoyed it. I've been single for a good year or so now, and have no intention of hooking up with anyone for a long long time. Possibly ever. Well, I wouldn't really be against getting to know Ava, but that's it. Nothing more. Oh shit, do I have a crush on her? No, I can't. Not her. Even if it could happen, it can't. I can't let anyone get close. Not after...
We reach the final class we have together. Up until today, I didn't know how many classes we have together. I let go of her hand, and see the world change back. I felt like it looked a little better with the other coating, but whatever. This is better. "So, Ms. Boss, no more holding hands for you." She looks at me with a smirk on her face, then a frown.
"Oh, that's right... Don't we have a project for biology we need to work on? Can I go to your house later tonight? Like maybe 6 pm? I'm going shopping with Sam and Edward later, so I'll have to be there after 5." She finished that statement in a way that made her eyes twinkle. It seemed like she wanted to see me more. Funny. Most people don't. Regardless how badly she wants to see me, I can't let her see my house. Not with what goes on when my dad's home.
I look at her and try and make myself look tougher, and said "Not gonna happen. Not my house." I feel a little proud of myself. I gave her a little smirk, just to keep that tough-guy look. She frowns again, then appears to grow a large smile.
"So, what you're saying is I cannot go to your house?" Oh shit... What's she thinking...? "How's about you come over to my house?" I should have known she would say that. Damnit!
"Uh, sure. That could work. You said around 6?" I need to stop talking. Now.
Ava gives me another smile, and makes the alien-like world appear for a couple seconds. I'm starting to enjoy seeing it. No, I can't! This is a disease, and it could kill me if I'm not careful! "So it's a date?" She asks, a hint of joy echoing through her lips.
"Not a date, a study-session."
"Whatever helps you sleep at night, darling."
Did she just call me "Darling"?!?!
Ava's POV:
___________________________________________________
Did I really just call him 'Darling?!' I need to stop talking, but he's so damn good-looking! I guess I'll have to talk to him later tonight anyways. I think my "poison plan" is working. So far, he's done what I asked really well. I didn't expect him to do anything I said. He held my hand!!! That made me feel really warm, and I could see all the colors for a while. They look so gorgeous, it's breathtaking. Okay, well I have later tonight to see him again.
Wait, are we still standing in the doorway? Why are we just sitting here? This is awkward!
"So are you just gonna sit there? What, do you expect me to kiss you? That wouldn't be worth the cure. Holding hands is pushing it, and that's only the first thing you asked me to do." He opens the door, and motions for me to enter. "Ladies first, your highness." I enter, feeling the stare burn into the back of my head like a laser. I walk to my desk, and get ready for the last class of the day.
