I hate summer mornings, waking up in the heat and being sweaty is more than annoying. Peeling the sheets off of myself, I glance over at my clock. It's 8:20! Crap! I have 25 minutes to get ready and arrive at school! Jumping out of bed, I run to my closet, stumbling over Oscar my cat in the meantime.
I bend down to Oscar and give him a quick cuddle, "I'm sorry boy" I coo.
Regaining my balance I get up to assess my closet, seeing some denim shorts and a light blue crop top I quickly pull them on. Scooting around my room, I pull on my shoes and grab my bag. As I'm about to leave my phone beeps, I turn around and realize I've left my phone on the bed. Re-entering my room, I snatch my phone and make my way downstairs.
As I round the corner I hear mum making a ruckus in the kitchen. She seems busy so I quietly leave and make my way down the street to school. Just as I stop to put my headphones in, Miss Gulbranson waves to me while she checks her mailbox.
"Good morning Miss G," I say kindly while smiling. "It sure is hot today."
She gives a croaky laugh and nods her head "It sure is Sookie."
I put my headphones in and play my music, making my way to school slowly today as it's hot and I don't want to be all sweaty when I get there. I'm about halfway through my walk when I realize someone is following me, I brush it off thinking it may just be another student. While I continue to walk down the street I feel something flick against my ankle. Leaning down to tie my shoelace back up the man slowly walks past me. I feel his hand graze my head which is strange since there is plenty of room for him to walk past me.
As I finish tieing my shoe, I stand back up. But when I look to see where the man is he is nowhere to be seen. This is really strange, I should have got mum to drop me off. With that thought, I quicken my pace.
Ten minutes pass and I round the bend to walk through the alleyway, I look up to see the man in the alleyway. He is leaning against the fence that runs along the pathway. He looks to be in his 20's and has brown scruffy hair, he was busy on his phone so we never made eye contact.
"Great" I mumble to myself. I quickly make my way past him and begin to make my way onto the next street. Taking one step onto the street I feel strong arms wrap around my waist and pull me back into a strong hold. Before I can even make out a word a hand is slapped over my mouth, my breathing has become rapid and I begin to kick and scream against my assailant. They remove their hand from my mouth which gives me enough time to take in a large breath. This corrects my breathing but as soon as I open my mouth to scream a hand is placed over my mouth a second time but accompanied by a rag. Instantly a strong smell fills my nose, I struggle more knowing what substance is on the rag. I continue to kick out as tears stream down my face and dampen the rag even more.
A deep raspy voice breaks though my struggles.
"Stop fighting me Sookie, you'll just make this worse for yourself." With these words I realize it must be the man that was following me! I continue to struggle but my vision blurs and my breathing becomes less rapid and more even. The man strokes my hair.
"There there Sookie, I'm here now."
As my vision blurs and my legs and arms become weak, my assailant picks me up bridal style and continues to walk away as I fade into unconsciousness.
--
A loud rumble and obvious movement wake me up from the darkness which engulfed me before. My head is pounding, I slowly get up and move to rub my eyes but I can't. I blink many times to help me focus on where I am and why I can't move my hands. I sit up and fix my posture and balance, a cough comes from in front of me and I look to see my assailant. Silently freaking out I look around and notice I am in a car, a moving one.
"Fuck!" I mumble to myself.
"Hey, you are finally awake. The drugs will ware off in a about an hour, so don't move around too much." He said with a slight chuckle.
"Where are you taking me" I muttered with slight concern as I'm more worried about why I can't move my hands. I try and turn to see my hands behind me and catch a glimpse of rope. Fantastic, they are tied together.
"We are going to my home in Yelbeni Sookie. There's 3 more hours to go." He chimed.
Yelbeni? I have heard of this place before but its so far away! Coming to this realization, my eyes begin to tear up.
"I..I need to use the bathroom" I mutter.
"You can go when we get home." He states sternly.
"No! I need to go now!" I speak confidently, almost at a shout since I don't want him to see my tears.
He doesn't reply. I don't dare speak another word until he does. We speed along for another 5 minutes, in the mean time I look out the window to see and take in anything important. He suddenly swerves off onto the side of the road, it all happens so suddenly I don't have time to brace myself so I get thrown to the other side of the car.
Coming to a sudden stop, the noise of a seatbelt unbuckling forces me to reposition myself. He steps out of his seat, with each step to my door I can hear the crunch of gravel. My door fly's open. This is the first time I have seen his face properly. Contrasting his brown hair are light green eyes.
A grumble from him brings me back from thought. He reaches in and cuts the rope from behind me. He takes the opportunity while being this close and places a firm grip around my neck.
"Don't try to escape or make a scene okay sweetie?" He whispers in a creepy tone. I nod my head in agreement.
"If you do, I'll just have to kill you."
A/N: Hope you like this guys! I'm much happier with it now. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
