Chapter Twenty-Four

Jaehee's Pov

Without actually forcing myself to do anything, I picked up speed and ran into the woods, with the amount of speed I put into running, it felt as if I was floating on air.

It felt incredible! I had never felt so much alive before! I know I was against turning into something that forced me to give up my humanity yesterday, but right now I'm kinda glad I went through with it.

So this was what it felt like to be immortal.

I stopped running when I smelled a familiar scent, at this point I'm kind of lost but thanks to my sharp nose, I was able to pick up a scent that smelled all too familiar to me.

The scent came from somewhere down the hill up ahead. I quickly followed the path that led me down to a lake, there was a broken sign board that said Bohuan Lake.

It was raining just morning so the road was a bit muddy, I took careful steps down to the lake and saw a figure sleeping on the grass.

That figure happened to be Luhan. He had his eyes close, the wind was blowing his hair in every places.

I smiled at the sight of him and quickly made my way over to him, before I got the chance to surprise him, he spoke. "How'd you find me?"

I pouted when I failed to surprise him, I sighed and sat next to him, I hugged my knees before I replied to his question. "Suho hyung told me you'd be here. Also, I kind of followed your scent."

He finally opened his eyes and looked at me, a faint smile appeared at the corner of his lips. "You're getting the hang of your new ability."

"Not exactly, it still amazes me of what I can do. Yesterday, I couldn't even differentiate the smell of dog poop and Baekhyun's horrible body odor." I laughed which made Luhan laughed too.

I'm glad he's smiling again.

"That's only the beginning. As you grow more stronger, you will gain more supernatural abilities." He sat up and looked at me, my whole body froze as I was trapped under those stares of him. "I'm sorry I took away your humanity from you."

At the beginning, he acted all tough and cold towards me but now, his fragile heart was beginning to show more clearly.

I reached out and felt his cheek with my hand before I gave it a soft pinch, he yelped at the pain. "Oww... I know I'm strong enough to withstand this small pain but it still hurts a little you know, feels like a pin just poked me."

"If you don't want me to pinch you again then you should stop saying stuff like that, it's not your fault. I made this decision on my own so I should take responsibility for it, if you keep blaming yourself like this, I'll pull your nose next." I threatened as I hold up a hand and tried to reach for his nose.

He quickly covered it with his hands, I laughed at how cute he was being, it was my first time to joke around with Luhan like this.

I held out a pinky and moved it up to his face so he could properly look at it, "Promise me you'd stop blaming yourself. Promise me..." I shook my pinky as I waited for him to respond to my pinky promise.

It took him a while to react as he stared at my pinky, a few minutes later he entwined his pinky with mine, he flashed a sweet smile which made my heart go all crazy.

I wonder if we could stay like this forever but I know that  can never happen if we don't defeat the Vampires.
