When I first met you
you were the most beautiful person ever.
You had a few cracks here and there
but you were perfect to me.
At first, there was so much love between us.
Until one day, that all changed.
All of the love was sucked
out of us like a vacuum.
You became more distant
and more controlling.
You claimed that you still love me
and that we're going through a rough patch
but we'll work through it.
What happened to the person
that I fell in love with?
That person is now cold-hearted
and completely different now.
You drink more often
and anger easily.
You take it out on me
through punches, slaps, and hair pulls.
But after everything, you apologize
and promise not to do it again.
And I believe you
like my naïve self.
I try to remind myself that you really do love me
and that I deserved that beating.
You eventually leave me for another girl.
I know it's for the best
you didn't just leave me with nothing.
You left me with scars, tears
and a completely shattered heart.
A heart that once belonged to you.
