Sarah's POV

I looked at now the empty seat beside me and wish Reed didn't stand up so fast. I realized my mom was skyping me and I looked at the screen with my mom's face on it. "Why did Reed have to leave?"

"You might not like the news that I have to tell you."

"Oh..." I felt my heart speed up in nervousness and that's all I could say at the moment.

"Your aunt can't make move in with you guys."

"W-why not?" If my aunt can't move in with us, can't Jennifer's dad stay with us?

"She said her job won't transfer her. We have been thinking about what we should do, and we want to make sure you go to that school. It's better than Okeechobee's schools."

"So we are stay, right?"

"For a little bit at least. We'll see before the next school year starts though."

"How is this so bad to where Reed has to go out of the room?" She stayed silent and looked down at her lap. "Mom?"

"Your brother got drafted."

"Which one?" I have two brothers and two older sisters, I never thought any of them would ever be drafted.

"Scotty." I felt tears crawling their way to roll onto my cheeks. He was strong and smart, but why does he have to get drafted?

"Oh..." It's all I can say without letting Niagra Falls take over my eyes.

"It's going to be okay, he's strong and smart enough to not get hurt." She smiled weakly thorugh her words. I only can nod because I'm afraid that the lump of my throat may grow if I try to say any word.

"Hey! I'm home!" Jennifer came through the door. "What's going on?" She froze once she took in her surroundings.

"Is that Jennifer?" I hear my mom's voice come through the laptop.

"Yeah, is that you second mommy?" She ran and plobbed to the empty place where Reed was sitting what felt like ages ago.

"Yeah..."

"Did I miss something?" Jennifer was completely confused.

"Scotty was drafted." I got up and ran to Jennifer's and my room.

Reed's POV

I was sitting outside of a purple door and waiting for Sarah to come upstairs to hangout with me. I wonder what's going on and why I had to leave the room. After a couple minutes of thinking of Sarah I started thinking of scattered lyrics and tried putting some together with a good beat.

When I failed five times with different lyrics and tunes in my head, Sarah came running up the stairs and ran past me when my foot came into contact with hers and she fell. I felt bad for leaving my foot out in the middle of the hall even if I saw Sarah coming up the stairs.

"Sarah! Are you okay?" Jennifer came from the stairs and ran to the beautiful burrnett in front of me. They both get hurt because of me. I was the one that actually threw the foot ball, but Jamiah wouldn't take no for an answer when he asked if he should take the blame. I don't know why he wanted to take it, but he wouldn't let me take it. And why do I always have to be so awkward in these situations?

"I am so sorry!" I say loudly.

"It's okay Reed, you didn't mean to." Jennifer started helping Sarah up from the ground and I grabbed her other arm and started helping her to her feet. I felt horrible for hurting the girl that reminds me of nothing, but beauty and how I use to feel. I hated being bullied back in school and I can see some of the hurt I had before in her eyes also.

"I am still sorry."

"It's okay..." Sarah said before storming off through the green door that reminded me off the green in her eyes.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing, I'm fine. Just a little scared about Sara-" I cut Jennifer off.

"Not you, Sarah." I smiled trying to not sound mean.

"A little rude?" She was smirking so I knew she was joking around.

"Sorry." I smiled and hope she spills the beans about why Sarah sounds sad.

"Okay, I understood the first time, lover boy. Sarah is just sad about some stuff that her mom told her."

"Lover boy?" I asked, confused about why she called me that. She didn't even answer me she just wiggled her eyebrows. "Stop that... It scares me."

"That's the point." She laughed and wiggled her eyebrows some more.

"You're eyebrows are starting to creep me out." She laughed and I laughed along. She seems like a good friend that can make you laugh. Maybe that's why Sarah is friends with her...

"Go talk to her, will ya? It might help." She smiled a little and walked back to the living room down stairs. I guess I have permission to go into Sarah's room... I opened the door and heard barely audible sobs and noticed a little ball of hair sticking out of a blanket. I sat next to Sarah on her bed. I realized this room is probably both hers and Sarah's because there were two beds and the purple door is connected to this room also.

"Hey..." I feel a little awkward, it's weird because I feel less awkward than usual. Every time I try to talk to a girl I feel so awkward and I fumble with my words even more if the girls are preppy, but I feel the least of awkward I have felt in a long time.

"I don't want to talk..." Her voice was a little dry, possibly because of crying.

"You don't have to. I'll just hug you." I put my arms around her and smelt the berry shampoo in her hair. She said she loved her new shampoo she got a week ago, berry fusion scented. It smells good and the thought of hugging her makes me smile even bigger than I was.

"Reeeeeed!" She whined trying to get out of my grasp.

"I'll tickle you again." She froze from the words that left my mouth and I started swaying her back and forth to sooth her from whatever her mom told her.

"Don't tickle me agian, please?" I laughed at her little comment and I felt a little chuckle from her.

"I won't, just don't try to get out of my hug."

"Yes ma'am."

"Hey! That's Mrs. Ma'am to you." I said in a high pitch voice in a preppy tone.

"Okay, okay. Mrs. Goof ball." She laughed and I smiled widely at how quickly her mood changed from sad to jokingly
