I'm not sure how I was able to handle see you today. It's been about a year since I'd last seen you. My last glimpse was you walking out of our apartment, and you just walked back into my life.

You looked different, but still wore the same wide-spread smile across your lips. Your hair's cut different though, shorter than before.

I was at lunch, eating my sandwich and minding my own business, when you came over. You barely got two words out before I knew who was speaking to me. Your voice is still soft and even after all of these months, it has the same effect on me. I knew that if the chair wasn't underneath me, my legs would have collasped under me.

I never expected to see you today. I never expected to see you again, or at least not until we were both married and ran into each other in Wal-Mart's toy aisle, right before Christmas.

But I did see you. And it was, sadly, the best part of my day. We talked for awhile, you told me how you'd just broken up with your girlfriend because she'd cheated on you, you told me how you were doing okay. And you asked me how I was, and I said that I was fine, even though I wasn't. And I think that you saw threw my lie, just like you used to be able to, but you didn't say anything, even though you used to. But you had to leave pretty quickly, saying that you had to get to work, but you gave me your new phone number, and told me to text you sometime when you were free so that we could finish "catching up". And I saved it to my phone once you left, realizing that I had never -even after all of this time- deleted your old number. So, I took that as a sign and I will text you. I promise.
