taehyung was used to the darkness.

he was used to the cold too.

how the air would sink into his bones

and seep into his chest,

with a raw, dull, constricting pain.

everything around him was black,

shadowed over with eclipses,

and covered with nights that never ended.

his body was always sore,

aching

with bruises and welts

that he didn't remember the causes of.

he'd find pieces of glass

from broken windows

that he couldn't see

littering the floor,

and he'd take the glass and bring it to his wrist,

as another dull but slightly different pain engulfed him

every time the blood dripped over his skin.

this pain was strangely welcoming.

somewhat warm.

monsters always lurked

within the shadows of the room.

taehyung couldn't see them,

but he could feel them,

self hatred blooming somewhere inside his chest

and wrapping its arms around his throat with a vice grip

that pushed the insecurities from his lips

forcibly

creating the monsters

that then filled the endless room.

he heard a creak

and echoing footsteps.

taehyung?

taehyung sat up, arms covered in old blood

from the cuts he had inflicted upon himself.

jimin?

tae, what is wrong with you?

taehyung didn't understand.

curiousity emptied from his lungs

as he suddenly asked himself

why he was in this room.

he looked into jimin's eyes

and wondered how

he knew jimin's name

when he had never seen him before.

and he was confused

because

nothing

was

wrong

with him.

taehyung, what have you done to yourself?

i don't understand.

what don't you understand?

why am i in this room?

the grip around taehyung's throat only tightened.

this is your bedroom, taehyung.

no it's not.

where do you think you are?

it's so dark in here. and it's so cold.

taehyung, what are you talking about?

why am i hurt all over? why am i locked up in here

like this?

and then jimin explained

that he had not been locked inside

this endless room

empty and void of all but

monsters and cold air.

taehyung listened,

and suddenly,

as jimin spoke,

the room filled with light

and there was a bed, a closet and a desk.

the walls were visible,

and the door was wide open.

it was then that

taehyung came to the sickening

realization

that none of this

had been real.

but then,

it was as taehyung felt his eyes

fill with tears,

that the room filled with blackness again

and everything disappeared once more.

taehyung cried out

voice drifting into a dark oblivion

as it grew darker

and darker,

leaving him in an empty,

endless

room

filled with monsters.
