My backyard is my favorite place to be. Trees, a river, and a beautiful view of mother nature. Relaxing and amazing. Peaceful really, until I found that dead body of Xavier Marek. Well, kind of. I saw him and when I went to touch him he disappeared. I knew it was him. He is the popular kid. He has dark green eyes like the woods. Now weird things are going on.

Time to go to school. It's autumn. Leaves start falling from the trees. Beautiful sunsets and cool air. I stare into my reflection in the mirror. Short brown hair, icy blue eyes, and lost of freckles. My name is Jacklyn Beck. There is nothing special about me, only that I am seeing some weird things and hearing them too. My mind is strange. I eat breakfast, one piece of toast, and grab my backpack. "Bye Mom." I wave into her room. Oh yeah, she's gone. Business trip. Old habits I suppose.

I put on my coat and leave, locking the door behind me. I jumped on my rusting old bike and headed off to school. It was cold. I love it though. I feel alive, going over bumps and some puddles of water. I like going the back way to school, on a hidden trail. Woods. I love the woods. I guess I love a lot of things.

I see the school. I see Xavier Marek. He has blood on one side of his face, strange. He is talking to a group of the other popular kids. Then, he notices me staring at him. For a second he looks confused or shocked, it changes into a bit relief. He then turns back to his friends and starts laughing like nothing happened.

"Who are ya staring at? Hmmm? I thought you didn't like the popular kids." The sudden hand on my shoulder made me jump. Willow. Of course, Willow would scare me like that.

"I don't and I'm not staring at anyone, I was daydreaming. I guess. Also, don't scare me like you did!" I looked at her. She backed up and put her hands in the air.

"Just askin' Jack." She laughed. "Cold isn't it." She pointed at one of the mountains surrounding us. "Look. There's snow up there."

"Yup." I replied, simply.

"I hate this weather. I bet you love it."

"I don't love it, I adore it." We both laughed.

"You we're like born in the woods, weren't you."

"I sure do love 'em."

"What we're you looking at? Seriously."

"Nothing." She looked at me with doubt in her face. "Seriously!"

"Fine."

I put my bike in the bike rack. Then I notice Xavier staring at me. I just looked away and continued my way into the school.

"Things will change." I looked around to see who said that, no one. I think I'm going insane.

 I think I'm going insane
