I couldn't stop crying as Sir Tsumin bid his goodbye. It didn't feel like any other goodbye. It was much more intense. There was a huge fear that this was the last time I'd actually see him.
"Please don't go, Sir." I sobbed, clutching onto his dark robe when he pulled out of our embrace.
"I need to, Gabrielle. The boys' parents will be here soon to pick them up, and we can't make them suspicious. I need to leave now, dearest." He spoke, a soft tremble in his voice, indicating him to break down soon too.
"P-promise you will come back for me though." I whispered, ignoring Jin softly trying to pull me back and allow Sir Tsumin to escape my tight clutch and leave. "Tell me I'll see you again."
"I will only promise that if you promise me to work hard, and never forget what I taught you. I know it's a heavy burden, but you're an avatar and it's your purpose to keep the world balanced. This could mean you'll have to take out your own family, Gabrielle."
"I know." I nodded. "You're my only family though. I will do what is right." I promised him.
He smiled one more time, leaning over to peck me softly on my forehead.
"Bye, my little rebel." He spoke softly before he turned around, leaving me alone with Jin.
I held my breath as I watched him get in his taxi which would take him back to the airport. As the car drove of, disappearing into the horizon, I couldn't keep it in anymore and let all my emotions flow. Jin still stood behind me and wrapped his arms around my frame to prevent me from collapsing onto the floor as I cried loudly and particularly ugly.
"Gabrielle, it's okay. It's for the best." Jin spoke softly in my ear from behind, trying to sooth me. He continued to hold me tight, softly rocking us back and forth until my hyena-like whines dissolved into small sobs.
"Let's go inside, we need to figure out where you'll stay during the break before our parents get here." Jin told me as he carefully directed me into the mansion again.
The boys still sat in the living room, discussing loudly amongst themselves, clearly in distress.
"It will be way too suspicious if I'd bring Gabrielle to my place." I heard Namjoon explain. "Can you imagine? Not only will it make my dad ask questions, but the press will be on our lips as well. I don't think it'd be smart if we want to keep her low-key."
"Same goes for my place." Yoongi grumbled. "Even though my mom probably wouldn't mind, my dad would absolutely not appreciate me bringing girl home."
"I'm on holiday to the Bahama's this Christmas, so not ideal." Hoseok grumbled.
"I can take her!" Taehyung opted as he flew over to wrap his arms around me. "I'll also be able to teach her how to fly and inspect aura's and the air shift around people."
"Which is exactly the reason she can't go to your place." Namjoon groaned. "She's supposed to be a fire bender so don't think it'd be a smart move to have her practice her air bending under your parents' nose. Besides, I don't mean to insult you but, I don't think you're the best member to protect her when needed."
"Oh." Taehyung breathed, a small pout on his lips. I quickly turned towards him to give him a smile.
"It's okay." I spoke softly to him before turning to all the other boys. "I can just stay here on my own or something. Nothing to worry about." I shrugged. "No one has to know."
Jin chuckled softly as all the boys fell silent, staring at me sheepishly.
"Always so humble, Gabrielle. As if we're going to leave you here all alone without protection after hearing Sir Tsumin's story. Besides, campus is completely closed off during the holidays, so how are you going to get your food, huh?" He smiled smugly as I bit the insides of my cheeks.
