Dove's POV:
I decided that it was best that I tell Charlotte... everything. I sat down next to her on the bed and sighed. "Charlotte, do you happen to have a picture of your mother?" I asked. She thought for a moment "no but I could ask grandma if you'd like. I saw a picture of her when I was younger but my memory is fading a bit" she said. I nodded and waited for her to come back with a picture. Finally she came back with a scrapbook and sat down next to me. She opened up to a page with pictures of me and Harvey, me and max, and just me. "This is her, she was so beautiful" she said. "I-" she began to say before stopping herself. She looked up at me with wide, watery eyes. She glanced back and forth between me and the pictures. "What?" She breathed. "Twins or..." she questioned. "Charlotte, born Charlotte Olivia mills. 7 pounds exactly. Brown hair and green eyes. Daughter of Harvey mills and dove Martin... Charlotte, my name is dove Martin" I choked. Tears began streaming down her face and she wrapped her arms around me. "How?" She asked, still crying. I told her the entire story.. or what I knew of it and I told her how she could only discuss this with my mother. "I understand" she smiled. "Oh Charlotte, when I passed away I remember being so upset that I wouldn't be there for you. Dad can't know about this yet" I said. "Okay. But doesn't it hurt you to know that the live of your life doesn't remember you?" She asked. I nodded feeling like I'd throw up, I just wanted to have my entire life back.
-------------------
I sat on the couch looking at houses I could buy, my mom said she'd help out. I finally found one and I made sure that I absolutely wanted it. I called to schedule an appointment to physically see the house on Monday. "So you get to go see it on Monday?" Charlotte asked. "I certainly do. Care to join me?" I asked pulling her in closer. "Sounds great! We are out of school for vacation so we don't have to worry about that. I'm glad we are doing stuff together" she smiled. "Me too girly, me too" I replied.
Finally Monday rolled around and I dressed in a blue top and some white skinny jeans with my blue converse. "Alright mom, I'll call when I'm done. I'm going to take Charlotte for some ice cream afterwards" I said before walking to my car. "Alright, let's go" I beamed before pulling away from the house in my car.
----------------
"Thank you so much" I said as I signed the last paper. The house was officially mine! "This is so great!" Charlotte squealed. I giggled and hugged her. "Now I can go get all of my stuff" I smiled. "Oh yes, definitely. Can I help?" She excitedly asked. "Of course you can" I replied.
----------------
As I packed my bags, I thought about how this would all work out. Would I tell Harvey about all of this? Would he remember me at all.. or even the slightest? I guess it's hit and miss from here. I sighed as I placed my last box in my car, I'm sure glad my mother kept all of my things. "Okay let's go kiddo" I said as I patted Charlotte's upper back.
When we had finished putting everything in its spot at my new house, we sat down to drink some lemonade. "Haha I guess my taste buds have changed on me. This lemonade tastes like crap" I laughed. "Either that or I'm really bad at making it" I added, sending Charlotte into a fit of laughter. "I think I'm going to have to go with the second one" she giggled. "Oh so it tastes bad to you as well" I joked and she nodded her head, trying to hold in her laughter. I playfully shook my head and finished my lemonade. I saw her look down at her phone. "Oh man. Dads going to be home any second" she said standing up. "Okay let's go" I replied.
----------------
We thankfully arrived back at my mother's house before Harvey did and we sat down. Just as we did so, he came in the door. "Hey Mrs Martin" he smiled. "Hello dove" he greeted. "Charlotte how was your time here?" He asked. "It was awesome" she replied, winking at me. It hurt me to know that I couldn't be with my daughter all the time now.. I mean, her dad doesn't even know who I am anymore. "Hey dove can I speak to you for a moment?" He asked. I nodded quickly and stood up, following him to the hallway. "What's up?" I asked. "Listen, I know I'm being completely forward when I ask this but um would you like to join me in dinner tomorrow night?" He questioned. My heart raced a little. "Oh uh yeah of course I would" I smiled. His expression instantly changed from scared to excited. "That's amazing. Where should I pick you up?" He asked. I gave him my address and he wrote it down on a piece of paper before leaving. Once he was gone I plopped down on the couch, I had butterflies in my stomach. "He asked me out mom" I beamed. "Wow that's great honey" she smiled. I guess it all starts here.
