I woke up to my phone ringing. I rolled over to face it. Chase was calling me. "Hello?" I asked groggily. "Good morning Reesey! Sleep good?" He asked in a cheerful tone. I sat up and looked at the time. 7 in the morning. I was planning on sleeping in on my free Sunday morning. "Chase, it's 7 in the morning. This better be real important," I grumbled. I was super close to wantin to kill him. "Well someone's in a bad mood," he replied. "Bye," I shot back. I was about to hang up when he said, "Wait! I was wondering if you wanted to come to Jamestown with me to go run a few errands. I might even throw some breakfast in." I thought about it for a minute. What else was I gonna do? I sat up. "Sure. Give me a minute to get ready," I replied, forgetting to whisper. Next thing I knew, I was having a pillow thrown at me. "Shut the hell up Reece!" Cassie yelled. I got quiet real quick. I heard Chase laugh on the other end. "Be ready in 10 Reesey." With that, he hung up.
I jumped outta bed, careful not to knock anything over and wake Cassie up. I ran over to my closet and grabbed my flower romper and Jean jacket. I through on my old black converse and went over to the bathroom. Ran a brush through my hair and brushed my teeth quickly. I decided on no makeup. Not to sound too egotistic, but I really didn't need it. Not with my long lashes, plump rosey lips, and olive colored skin. Let's not forget about my dimples.
I went back into my room and noticed a text from Chase.
Chase: come on princess. The little folk have plans too.
Me: Oh shut up. I'm coming.
I slowly crept down the stairs. I tried to remember what stairs made noise and which didn't. Once I safely made it to the living room, I silently moved to the front door. "Where do you think you're goin?" I voice called out. I recognised it as Clay's. "Uh out with Chase. We're going to Jamestown so he can run a few errands," I quickly replied. Clay looked me up and down. "Is that all?" He asked. "We'll we were gonna grab breakfast too," I replied. He looked at me one more time before saying, "Alright. Be careful." Thank God he let me go. I was almost sure that he'd try and stop me.
When I got outside, Chase was waiting for me in his old Chevy pickup. "Bout time Princess!" He said as I hopped into the passenger seat. "What's with the callin me Princess?" I asked. "Well, I feel like you've grown out of Reesey. And anyway, I called you princess before I called you Reesy," he said as he pulled out. I can still remember the day he called me princess.
I could not believe he had the nerve to call me princess! "Don't call me that!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. My little 8 year old voice sounded very high pitched just then. "Why not princess?" He called after me. That's it. I had had enough. I ran over to him and pushed him into the mud. I was glad it was super muddy on my property. Chase looked at me in awe. "What'd you do that for?" Chase said, lookin at his muddy self. "Cause you called me princess!" Chase looked at me then said, "fine then. I'll just call you Reesey!" Just then he grabbed my arm and pulled me into the mud next to him. "Now, don't push a man in the mud!" I looked at him in amusement. "I'd hardly consider you a man," I shot back.
"Hello? Earth to Reece?" Chase said as he waved one hand in front of my face. "Sorry. I was thinkin back to when you first called me princess," I replied. "You mean the day you pushed me in the mud and repeatedly screamed at me? You were a vicious little 8 year old." He laughed. God, his laugh was so catchy. "I was only vicious cause you always got on my nerves!" I defended. "Yeah, yeah OK," he replied, his laugh fading. I yawned. I was extremely tired. And we wouldn't be close to any breakfast place anytime soon. "I'm just gonna go to sleep," I said sleepily. "OK princess," he said as I dozed off.
