A Match Not Perfectly Made in Heaven(Lee Nacionales)

  One great afternoon in the University of Manego,Lee,a second year architecture student sat on the concrete step outside the school cafeteria.His lips were slightly puckered in thought.The rest of his face was almost invisible under the dark hood of his jacket,but it was obvious that something was weighing down in his mind.All around him were kids chatting,standing in place in nothing better to do.Everyone else was inside eating lunch.Lee had deliberately escaped the cafeteria to avoid the crowd.

   But that wasn't what was bothering him \.He could feel someone nearby watching him,and he knew all too well who it was.A glance to his left proved him right;Dave,the ace player of the Manego Varsity Team and the most admired face in their campus was staring right at him.His gaze was so intense,so concentrated.This was ridiculous!Why would Dave,one of his best friends here,be looking at him like that?Why didn't he just come over and say something?Lee couldn't figure out,but he wanted so desperately to.

  Lee looked up again.This time,he did not look directly away.He swallowed hard and looked eyes with Dave,willing his thoughts to be cleared,maybe even spelled out in the oen air around him.When nothing happened,Lee sighed and stood up.He walked over to Dave,his hands jammed in his jacket's pocket,and tilted his head up to look Dave in the face.They both stood there silently for a moment,both breathing hard.Lee realized that this wouldn't go anywhere unless someone said something,so he sighed.

"What's up?" He asked.Dave's eyes flattered for a moment and he looked away.

"Not much," He said,sighing.He glanced back at Lee,and then look away again,stretching one long arm up and scratching his neck.He seemed nervous,and Lee aware of a hint of color in his cheeks.Dave glanced back at Lee and took a deep breathe,like he preparing to jump in a cold water.

"Listen,this isn't exactly easy to talk about,but I have to know.Are you gay?"

"What?" Lee whispered.He looked around quickly to make sure no one had heard Dave's outburst.Everyone seemed to still be caught up in their own conversations.

"Well,"  Dave continued,"Lately,you've been throwing signals this way and that.I mean,you've always hugged me and stuff,and I've never had a problem with it,but lately,you've been really...clingy."

"Is clingy bad?"

"No." Dave acclaimed,once again scratching his neck nervously,"Actually,clingy is fine...I kind of like it."

"Really?"

"Yeah.That's why I wanted to ask.."

Lee eyes narrowed in suspicion and he moved closer to Dave,raising his tiptoes to whisper in Dave's ear.

"Dave?Are you gay?"

  Dave hesitated for a moment,and then quite unexpectedly,he pulled Lee into a tight embrace.He tilted Lee's face and kissed him.They kissed like a lifetime,obvious of all the attention they were getting from the other distracted students around them.Some whispered rapidly into other's ears,while others simply stood there watching,When Dave finally pulled away and look down,Lee was breathing very heavily and blushing the brightest shade scarlet he'd ever seen.He looked up Dave with wide eyes,his mouth moving but not forming any words.

"Answer your question?" Dave laughed.Lee learned into Dave and hugged him close.He listen to the rapid beating of his heart and marveled at how it matched his own.He closed his eyes and smiled to himself.

"Wow."
