As I walked along the beach in the mid-hot summer weekend, I expected for this drought to never end. "Name please?" I asked the approaching car.
"McCallister" The guy from the red mini-van replied to me, before turning back around to lecture his kids. Which of course, by the look on his face, had been multiple times on the way here. I turned around and began looking for his key and brochure of the beach. I quickly found it, pulled it out, and handed it to him with a free bag of courtesy items, free with your stay.
"Here you go, sir. Enjoy your stay at Myrtle Beach!" He nodded at me, before I saw one kid in the back punch the other one. Not before long, the father turned around and scowled at him. He turned back to me and smiled. I returned the smile before he quickly drove off. I glanced ahead at the long string of traffic that would be relatively the same to the McCallister's. I sighed. It was going to be a long day.

Before I knew it, it was four-thirty at the beach and we were still loaded with customers. Me, with just about a whole bucket of sand in my shoes, was exhausted. It was every bit of a hundred degrees out and as the day went on, the more ridiculous the customers got. "Welcome to Myrtle B-"
"Hemmings." The driver interrupted me with a quick and blunt response. He didn't even bother to look at me; he kept his glance straight forward with his surely expensive sunglasses on. I turned around quickly to find the name 'Hemmings, Andrew' I grabbed his gift bag and key to hand to him.
"You've been here before, yeah?" I asked, already knowing the answer. He looked at me, pulled down his sunglasses and made his lips into a straight line with a little nod.
"Dad, knock it off, you're not that stuck-up," A voice said before he cracked a smile at me and I giggled. It was the Hemmings family that made my day every year here. I was just waiting for the day. "I'm just kiddin' with ya," Andrew said with another smile. Little Luke popped his head down to see me with a little grin on his face. I couldn't help but smile before brought his head back up, only to bump into the rear view mirror in the top of their Mercedes. I busted out laughing.
"You guys crack me up. Enjoy your stay and give me a call if you need anything." I smiled at the two as they drove off. They were enough to give me enough energy to finish out the rest of the ten cars in line.

When the busy day finally slowed down, I put down the gate to my isle and grabbed my things before heading out. I dreaded this sandbox I had to stand in. The beach was a little over three miles away. The people will get there soon enough; we don't need sand in here. I clicked off my fan and stepped out of the box to head back to the office. I took a look at all the beauty of the earth around me. The gorgeous sunsets and water, the warmth of the ground below my feet, and my favorite: the fresh air around the beach. It made me feel so good, inside and out. I picked up my pace to get to the office so I could check out. As I opened the large door to get into the office, I felt a pang of cool air, enough to instantly cool me off. Greeting my mom and sister when I walked by made me feel good after today's long day at the beach. I grabbed my staff card and clocked off the time. After placing the card back into the slot, I ran out the back door to find my shoes and my car. I stepped out of my sand buckets and placed the flip flops on my feet before hopping in my car and heading back home.
Keys in the ignition, I put the car in reverse and headed out onto the highway. I checked my rear view and made sure no on e was coming before I did my usual craziness. Checking once more, I turned to look for cops on the raging lanes, while putting the top down on my luxury Mustang GT. It had a nice white color to it with the shiniest, most expensive chrome wheels. All my life savings went into this car and taking care of it. The car being a 2015 model, it was pretty sharp. I let my hair down out of its usual braid bun and let it blow in the wind, meanwhile cranking up the radio. My mix tape Luke had made for me last year did a nice job for this activity. Soon, I heard an expectant, loud horn behind me. I didn't even turn back to know who it was. I kept my shades on and braced myself for what I've been waiting for all year. Glancing behind me, I saw him racing up on me, just like every other summer. Luke'd ask his parents every year if he could come to my house the first day they come, and his parents agreed. Unaware of all of this, of course. Being all alone on the highway, with just him riding up on me, it felt amazing. The wind in my face, the beautiful sunset, the feeling of my toes in flip flops after a long day. Luke also had his own car, which his mom and brothers rode in to Myrtle Beach. We both agreed to get matching Mustangs: mine white; his black. Now before you think this is crazy, two kids having thirty-five thousand dollar cars, there's a story. But, we'll save that for later. As Luke pulled up beside me, I gunned the engine watching him the whole time, as he followed my lead up to seventy miles an hour. Holding back a smirk, I pushed the pedal up to eighty miles an hour; Luke following. The same radio station, every summer, every time, it felt amazing. He was my best friend. Suddenly, I felt my back pocket buzz. "Shit," I mumbled. I immediately slowed down. Luke turning around, confused, also slowed. Lifting up my butt and slowly gabbing my phone, I realized that it was a private number. I help up my iPhone to Luke, meanwhile smiling. "Uh-oh." I said to him, our pace nearing about an even thirty. He grinned back, and soon before we knew it, Adyn was speeding ahead of us in his red GT. He waved and winked at me, turning to get in front of me in this three-lane highway. I looked at Luke, him shaking his head at me and laughing. "Game on," I mumbled.
