Saturdays, the best day of the week. They are even better when they are lazy Saturdays. Sleeping in a lots of TV. Those are the days... But sometimes I'm crazy and decide to practice guitar. Or even stare a my homework until I decide to do it tomorrow.
I got out of bed on Saturday. Dragging is more like it. I pulled on some jeans and a sweatshirt. I pulled my hair into a ponytail and landed on the couch. The house was empty, Alana and Dad left an hour or two ago. It was ten o'clock, so it was two. They wouldn't be back until late. I remember my Daddy-daughter days. Once I got into seventh grade, Alana started going and I stayed home.
I grabbed a bowl and poured Pops cereal into it and then some milk to get some nutrition today. I resumed my position on our couch, did I mention it was leather? Relaxing position, cartoons you only see on Saturdy morning, this is the life. This was my plan for the day.
That was until my doorbell rang. I slipped on my bunny slippers and made way to the door. When I opened it, Luke was standing before me. "Hey, what're you doing here?" I asked, but smiling.
He shrugged. "I thought to spend the day with a friend. And since Matt's busy..." He trailed off, coming inside.
"Yeah, you are soooo funny." I put real sarcasim into it. I dragged my feet to the couch. He sat down, I was right next to him. "How'd you know I'd be home, anyways?"
"Because...I guessed. You never came to my house on Saturdays with your mom." He told me.
"Well," I said, "You are a really good guesser, then."
"Yes, I am. So what will we be doing today?" Luke continued.
"Channel surfing." I smiled.
By lunchtime, Luke and I were strectched out on the couch in various positions. From sitting to us both laying down, his arms around me. When we were in the him sitting and I was laying down with my legs on his lap position, my cell phone rang.
I picked it up, Tessa. "Hey, Tes."
"Where are you?" She asked. "Today was shopping for formal day."
"Crap," I put my hand to my face and stood up. "I totally spaced. I can go now." I started.
"God, no." Tessa said. "We already started." I was kind of taken aback by her reaction, then I realized she was kidding. "It's fine I got Laila. She can handle finding you a dress."
I sighed. "I'm really sorry, Tes. You know my size, right?"
"It insults me that you don't think I know it...What is it again?" She said, sarcastically.
"Bye, Tessa." I said.
"Mmmhmm, have fun with your boy." Tessa replied and hung up. I seriously wonder how she knows stuff like that.
I put my phone down and fell onto the couch again. I laid my head on Luke's chest. "Everything, okay?" he asked.
I smiled and looked up. "Completely."
Couple hours passed, we still sat watching TV. We continued switching positions. It was about three I was sitting and his head in my lap. I kept rubbing strands of his hair between my fingers. That was also about the time when Luke got up and said, "I should go." I could understand that, it was five hours of continous TV. But still...
"Already?" I asked.
He nodded."Syd, it's been five hours." He said seriously, in a funny way.
When he was reaching for his jacket, I locked my arms around his neck and pressed my lips to his. I leaned back into the couch and he followed, our lips still together. My arms still around him. He had one hand on my leg and one around me.
The make out session ended in what seemed like five minutes. It ended because his phone vibrated in his jacket. I started laughing because it was on my side and it tickled. He smiled. He checked his phone, when he put it down I kissed him again.
"Okay, now I really need to go. Matt invited the football players to his place for a game." He said. I stood up with him.
"Fine, I guess you're free." I replied with a sigh.
Once he left, I closed the door and continued relaxing... for about five seconds. Then Tessa, Laila and, Kira barged loudly into my house armed with four dresses and sodas.
