In Search Of The Elusive Mermaid

Prologue

Samuel...a fisherman.....was walking up from a serious night of binge drinking.....he couldn't remember how he got on the beach but there he was lying in the sand still in a drunken stupor....he sat up his head was pounding mercilessly.....he reached for his stash...a small bottle of badman rum, he took a long swing...he looked around trying to recognize the area but his vision way still fuzzy...he rubbed his eyes then at the corner of his eyes...he saw it....someone in the water...looked like a woman..he tried to remember if he was with any women that night but could not recollect nothing....she was frolicking in the water calling him.....she seemed happy...he waved back...a swim would do him some good anyway he thought...he stood up slowly....it was dawn...the sun was about to show its face...he stumbled in the water he watched as the figure splash around in the water....he got closer...he was waist deep in the water when he decided to take another drink....he fumbled in his pocket searching for his badman....when suddenly something grabbed onto his and was pulling him deeper in the water....he was shocked...he was surprised at the strength of this thing that was taking him to deeper waters....he was young and strong but could not free himself from its grip....then it went under....being an experience fisherman....diving lobsters....he filled his lungs with air as they went under....this thing was swimming down very fast he could not figure out yet what was happening to him...he was amazingly cool...he did not panic...he remembered his knife and with the other hand he reached for it and started hacking at what was holding his wrist....it worked...the thing let him go...he started to swim upwards fully awake now....he was in pretty deep he thought and stroke upwards a little faster then he saw it this thing that was pulling him down....swimming around him it was a mermaid.....or so he thought....slim body...scaly skin leathery like bluish greenish in color....very long fingers and it had a fish tail long and slender large eyes and almost human...as he broke the surface he caught fresh air and started to swim frantically to the shore....he started to pray...he never prayed before but today seemed liked a good day to start
