Chapter 1: How Unlovely to Meet You

Ana's POV

Laying down on my bed, staring at the ceiling, I hear a blood curling scream coming from the neighbors house.

What the hell?

This is possibly the most normal, boring and least chaotic town I have ever lived in. And trust me, I've lived in a lot considering my fathers job.

I sat up quickly, listening to the deadly silence. No more screams. Nothing. Just the soft ticking of this houses old AC.

I stood up, tugging my natural blonde locks of hair back, feeling uneasy.

"Mom!" I yelled, knowing she was awake.

I walked rather frightened down the stairs, towards the kitchen, overhearing my mothers voice on the phone.

"Yes yes yes. I was laying down on the couch and I heard a loud scream coming from next door..."

Pause.

"No, no other noises have come but it wasn't a 'Ahhhh! Spider!' Scream.. It was a 'HOLY SH*T I'M GOING TO DIE' Scream." She continued frantically.

"Just hurry here. It's right in front of the Fellers place." She then hung up.

My mother hasn't looked so worried in a while.

"Mom, what the hell happened?" I said, finally appearing, seeing my mother, eyebrows knitted together, I knew she didn't know.

"I just heard the scream and called the poli-" She was interrupted by a loud thump coming from upstairs.

We looked at each other quickly and she mouthed 'Your brother is upstairs with your dad'

My eyes widened. I quickly pushed passed her, taking the largest knife we have and tip toeing up the stairs, only to be stopped by my moms cold hand.

"I'm coming with you, idiot" she whispered.

"Mom, I'm not stupid" I whispered madly back

"Not the time, Ana" She finished and we tip toed up the stairs.

The silence sent chills down my spine.

I suddenly felt cold even though I was wearing sweatpants and a hoodie.

Light was creeping out from my brothers room.

I walked softly and opened the door to his room, revealing a horrid sight.

My brother had dropped his fish bowl.

All over the floor.

The little fishes were suffocating.

"Alex!" I yelled and he looked up at me with a 'I didn't do it' look.

I got the fished and tried to put them in the remaining water. They swam around in the tiny bit of water.

I swear I could hear them scream: Thank you, you kind soul.

"I didn't meant to, Mommy!" He said, realizing mom had followed me inside.

She looked relieved

Then confused

Then: Angry.

"Alex! Clean this mess up right now! How'd you manage to almost kill your fish!" She said angrily.

Wow, mom.

I added water to the fishes and they swam happily as if nothing had happened. Then, we hear loud sirens coming from outside.

Mom takes my hand.
