A lonely speaker in a conversation
Her words are swimming through his ears again
There’s nothing wrong with just a taste of what you’ve paid for

“I don’t see why you’re doing this,” Brendon groaned and gave me a look of absolute confusion. To be honest I didn’t know why I was doing this either.
“It’s for the best,” I told him. “I need this closure.”
“Closure?” He spat the word like it offended him.
“Yes, closure,” I repeated. “We both need this, okay?”
“After all the shit that he did you’re just going to…”
“Try and figure out what the hell happened?” I cut him off and raised an eyebrow, “Brendon I need this. You don’t trust me do you?”
“What? Of course I do!”
“Then what’s the problem?”
“It’s him I don’t trust,” Brendon’s voice was tight with tension.
“That is such an overused line.”
“Well, what else am I suppose to say, Izzy? I don’t trust him.”
“I already called Noah, Bren,” I said exasperated. To be honest I was tired of all of this, I hated arguing with him. “I’m just going to talk with him. He said he needs to explain some things and that’s exactly what I’m going to let him do. Nothing more. Nothing less.”
“Fine,” He groaned in defeat and shook his head. “I still think it’s a stupid idea to let him anywhere near you after everything he did. I just wish I was the one that punched that stupid son of a…”
“Brendon,” I snapped. “It’s in the past okay? Just let it go. And you shouldn’t be wishing that you were the one that punched him because I’d be really pissed off at you right now.”
“Is it wrong for me to worry about you,” Brendon’s voice was quiet and withdrawn. “You’ve been hurt so many times, by Noah… by me. I just don’t want anything else happening to you.”
I frowned at the sight of him nervously playing with his hands and refusing to look up at me. Slowly, I walked over to him and sat down next to him on the bed, “Nothing’s going to happen to me, Brendon. I can promise you that much. I just really need this for…”
“Closure,” He completed my sentence and let out an airy chuckle. “I get it.”
“Thank you,” I kissed his temple gently and his eyes closed at the contact.
“I love you.”
“I love you too, Brenny Bear.”

“Say what you need to say and then I’m gone.”
“Yeah, I totally understand,” Noah’s eyes were wide and unsure. He looked nervous and a little frazzled. “I’m glad you decided to call me back, Izabel.”
“Yeah well...”
“I’m really happy you called,” He emphasized and leaned in towards me. I drew back.
