I tugged on my red bathing suit while I sat on the edge of the pool. It felt like it was trying to compress my skin into my nerves. However I was silently thanking it for covering my body and not having any of my non existent boobs out and for covering my the upper half of my whole body. Unlike my sister who dived into the pool with her red Bikini that hugged all of her curves. Her friends clapped and cheered her on. However one of them seemed unimpressed. Maya appeared from under water and climbed the water. She walked up to her unimpressed friend and said something that we all couldn't hear. All of a sudden maya through her head back and laughed. Her friend suddenly looked at me and smiled at me across the pool. "Hey adilyn! Why don't you and your sister have a race?" Her friend shouted. I gulped as I turned to look over at maya, who stared at me blankly. I cleared my throat and slowly walked over on the other side. I put my red hair into a bun as I stood beside maya. "On your mark, get set.... GO!"
I plunged my body into the pool and started kicking my feet. My arms started to soar through the water as I felt my heart burning through my chest. I don't know how long I was swimming for or when to stop so I don't ram my head into the pool wall but I didn't pull my head up to stop and look either. Suddenly I felt a hand on my foot as it started yanking me back. I felt myself squirm me try to get a loose, but The more I squirmed the more tugging I felt. Suddenly it felt the hand let go, and I swam faster. I pushed against the pool floor and stood up. I rubbed my eyes to only find people clapping and cheering at the end of the pool, smiling down at maya. She turned around and winked at me. I looked down. She cheated. Her friend sat there and smiled at me "Better luck next time adilyn!" I smiled and nodded at her.
Later on, I dried off myself and put my hoodie on, when suddenly I heard my gym locker slam. I looked up to find, maya staring me down while combing her long wet hair. She gave me a weak smile. "Why?" She asked. "Why what?"
"Why are you determined to make me lose?" She said as her voice wavered a bit. I bit my lip nervously. "It was just a race maya.... it was just for fun... I was just trying to have fun like you. You know it wasn't anything serious" I said chewing on my lip. She was upset. Oh god please don't be upset. Maya leaned in closer. "You are not me. You can't be perfect okay? You just can't. And I know it's hard for you to find friends and fit it but don't you even thinking about taking mine away or anything that is mine. So please don't ever think I that you will ever over throw me, whether Its with swimming or anything else" she threatened. I stared at her in shock as my eyes began to water. She must have notice because her whole mood shifted. "Oh adilyn. You may think that your life suck now, but you're still my little sister and you'll fit in somewhere" she said. She patted my red hair and walked away back to her locker. I stared at her in shock. Although it didn't matter because this wasn't the first or last time she encountered me like this. This wasn't the first or last time she would make me feel like shit. Because for years and years I've tried and tried but nothing has changed. I'm the silver and she's the gold
