— Chloe Romano

I gasped, feeling like my whole world had been falling apart in front of my own eyes, knowing that the person I had currently been living with was going to kill me once they found out who I really was. My lies just dig me into a deeper hole even though I knew about the consequences the second he told me his name.

"Call me up when you find the girl, Jay." Jett hissed, calling Justin by his nickname. "We can't wait forever." He smirked, taking a box of cigarettes out of his pocket. He slipped a cigarette out of the box and popped it in his mouth, lighting it with his lime green lighter with Justin growling at him the entire time.

Jett inhaled and blew it in Justin's face, and Justin showed an expression of disgust. "You know what, Jay? You're just a baby. Have you seen yourself? You could get away with anything." He chuckled. "You're just a kid."

"I'm not a fucking kid." Justin growled, shoving Jett into his front door, breathing hard into his face. "I'll take care of the business, Jett. You don't even know how fucking hard it is to find this Chloe girl!" He spat.

I shook behind the car I was hiding behind, his voice was filled with pure rage towards... well– I didn't know if it was towards me or Jett, or perhaps us both.

"Whatever you say, Jay." Jett chuckled, inhaling the cigarette, again.

I started to feel my stomach growling from lack of eating. I continued to duck behind the car, not knowing what to do or where else to hide. He started to walk in the opposite direction of the car, causing me to let out a giant sigh of relief, while Justin walked into the house with his head hanging in stress. I waited until Jett disappeared at the end of the street and quickly, I sprinted from behind the car, onto Justin's porch. I pushed the door, panting as hard as I possibly could. I veered into the kitchen to see Justin sitting at the circular table all alone, taking a bite into a glazed donut. I stood next to his seat until he realized I had been watching him.

"And where the fuck were you?" Justin questioned, peering straight at me. He took another bite out of his donut, knowing I hadn't eaten in over a day. It bugged me that he was just eating, freely without a care in the world.

"I went for a run." I stated, hovering over him. I continued to breathe hard with my chest rising. He looked at my chest with a huge smile on his face, then continued to devour the donut until it was all gone. He took another one out of the brown Tim Hortons bag bit into it.

"You sure do like running." He pushed half of the donut into his mouth, crumpling the bag up and throwing it across the table without a care. The bag sat there, lifelessly. It reminded me of what my body would do if I were to pass out right at this second. Clearing my throat, I tried to let him know that I needed to eat, too.

"Is there a problem?" I gave him a pleading expression. I was living with a selfish mutt who couldn't even share a simple donut with me. "Oh, you want something of it?" He asked devilishly.

"You have issues." I spat. "You know damn well I haven't been eating for days, of course, I want something to eat." I ran my hands through my hair in disgust. An inferno of rage shot up my body, I didn't even feel like dealing with the guy, I just needed food at that point.

Nothing else.

"You actually thought I'd be thinking to buy you something to eat while I'm out? You're lucky you're even staying in my house." He said with his mouth full, reaching for a brown Tim Horton's napkin to wipe his mouth. "You're so delusional."
