One cloudy day on an eve so cold
An occurrence appeared so very old
in appearance that made the larks sing
in their glory and the couple whose fling
had for so long been secret now knew
the old lies and honours to be true
the day of castles in the sky
And the high ups knew not what this
could mean for the lack of hiss
that could show the life that within
lived inside this castle free of sin
of which the guards of faith did say
could hold no breath to which in lay
the occupants shrouded in the mist
the day of castles in the sky
Till one day of no importance
twas like the whole word that beckoned the trance
the doors flung open upon the beckoning call
“flee flee flee! Tis time for the fall!”
And down they came from above the cloud
to grounds with noise so very loud
the ground shook with unheeded burst
the day of castles in the sky
And the castles in the sky were no more
turned to dust as dusk entered dawn’s door
and the crumbling decay hit the floor
As the larks sung nevermore
and now the lives from the castle’s doors
Knew never to enter anymore
the day of castles in the sky.
