what would you do, if everything kept changing

Callum turned his head as the music blasted through the car speakers. His friends, Dave and Linda were in the back laughing, drinking shot after shot; it was a shame he couldn't join in. He turned the volume down as they reached the highway. "Callum don't be such a spoil sport" whined Linda. He never really liked 'black Sabbath'. Dave drunkenly gulped down the last shot of vodka. "Well what are we going to do now?" he asked leaning his head against the window. "You're going to sit there and shut up for a minute". Linda smiled as if it was some kind of joke. "You know Callum we offered you shots aswell you don't have to be so grumpy". The whole car jumped as the car juddered over the speed bumps. "I didn't want to; I'm the only one here that can drive". Linda stared out of the window and shook her head. "This isn't the right way, is it?" He quickly looked at the satnav and then nodded. "Yeah, this is a quicker root through the town and then on the A22". Callum liked his friends but compared to him they sometimes seemed a bit wild. He couldn't remember the last time he wasn't driving his friend's home. The car was a Renault Clio sport tourer, it wasn't anything expensive but I guess that's all he should have been expecting for his 18 birthday. The silver metallic Clio swept onto the A22 joining the roaring traffic and the smell of petrol in the cool congested air.

Callum glanced a quick looked at the petrol gauge and saw the red indicator had dropped to 'E'.

"Hey, I thought this road was closed today". Asked Dave.

He sighed as he saw a police car parked a few metres ahead and the officer showing drivers some other way around. The car pulled up to the him. The policeman walked up to the car and leaned in the window, a worried look was spread across his face. "Sorry folks but there's been an accident, I'm afraid to say this road is closed". Callum nodded and watched as the officer walked back to the police car. He was about to put his foot down when something caught his eye, something coming down the motorway. "What's that?" asked Linda pointing to a truck that was speeding down the other side of the road. The officer noticed to and began shouting at the driver. But it didn't stop. The truck was going at an incredible speed and within a second it happen. The whole world turned black as the truck collided with the police car smashing through the air. Callum grabbed for the door desperately trying to open it, but it was too late. The police car smashed into the Clio's window and everything shattered.

Callum slowly opened his eyes the light blinding him. He saw he was lying in a hospital bed. A group of surgeons had surrounded him. "Callum, can you here me" asked one of them leaning in a bit closer. Callum nodded. "We fixed you, its ok now". Something was wrong, he couldn't feel his legs. He grabbed the covers and threw them on the floor. He wanted to scream when he saw them, they weren't flesh anymore. They were metal. "Don't panic".

Callum slowly opened his eyes, the light blinding him. he saw he was in the same hospital bed. The surgeons were gone and the whole room seemed brighter. what happened? that was to real to be a dream and how could he dream about the hospital when this was the first time he'd seen it
