Chapter 3-Sorting & Houses

We were led through the huge double doors into the great hall. It was beautiful! We went up to the front and crowded around where Professor Longbottom waiting with the sorting hat.
"Now first years this hat will tell you what house you are in"
The sorting hat opened its mouth and says;

I've done this job for centuries
On every student's head I've sat
Of thoughts I take inventories
For I'm the famous Sorting Hat.

I've sorted high, I've sorted low,
I've done the job through thick and thin
So put me on and you will know
Which house you should be in...
A thousand years or more ago
When I was newly sewn,
There lived four wizards of renown,
Whose names are still well known:

Bold Gryffindor, from wild moor,
Fair Ravenclaw, from glen,
Sweet Hufflepuff, from valley broad,
Shrewd Slytherin, from fen.

They shared a wish, a hope, a dream,
They hatched a daring plan
To educate young sorcerers
Thus Hogwarts School began.

By Gryffindor, the bravest were
Prized far beyond the rest;
For Ravenclaw, the cleverest
Would always be the best;

For Hufflepuff, hard workers were
Most worthy of admission;
And power-hungry Slytherin
Loved those of great ambition.

While still alive they did divide
Their favourites from the throng,
Yet how to pick the worthy ones
When they were dead and gone?

It finished up its song and Professor Longbottom began the sorting;
"Bathamore, Lola!"
A girl with Curley blonde hair nervously went to the hat and the Professor put it on her head. It thought for a moment then, it said
"RAVENCLAW!" Then Lola skipped down and sat at the Ravenclaw table.
**A few more people**

"Chapman, Polly" Polly turned and smirked at me and walked up to the hat and it lightly touched her head then the hat screamed,
"GRYFFINDOR!" Polly then mouthed at me 'beat that'.

**A few more people**

"Granger-Weasley, Rose!" As Rose walked up I saw her trying to calm herself. Moments later..
"GRYFFINDOR!" She happily skipped down to her cousins who all gave her high fives.

"Hatzidopoulos, Kyra!" Kyra calmly walked up and the hat was placed on her head.
"Gryffindor!" The hat yelled, as Kyra went to join Rose at the Gryffindor table.

**A few more people**

"Malfoy, Scorpius!" Scorpius cooly walked up and as soon as it touched his head,
"Slytherin!"

"Martin, Samuel!" A guy with Blondie brown hair walked up to the stool and the hat was placed on his head, after a minute the hat announced,
"Ravenclaw!" He quickly walked down to the Ravenclaw table.

**A few more people**

"Potter, Albus!" Albus nervously walked up and the hat was placed on his head, after what seemed like forever the hat said,
"Slytherin!" Albus walked over looking a bit disappointed but happy he was with his friend Scorpius.

**A few more people**

"Thompson, Anna!" Finally it was my turn! I was nervous and excited and the Professor Longbottom placed the hat on my head. Then the hat seemed to be arguing with itself about what house to put me in! After a while it decided on..
"Ravenclaw!" I walked down to the Ravenclaw table and happened to sit next to Samuel Martin.

**A few more people**

The final one was Dominique,
"Weasley, Dominique!" Dom walked up and ten seconds later..
"Gryffindor!" She happily went down to the rest of her family.

Then Headmistress Mcgonagall said,
"Let the feast begin!" I talked, ate and got to know the people in my house. Then once the feast was over the prefects took us to our dorms. I am sharing with Lola, Patricia and another girl called Taya.
I dozed off to sleep wondering what tomorrow would bring...
