I envy her.
Her eyes. Her lips. Her face. Her Hair. Her nails. Her hands. Her body. Her legs. Her smile. Her laugh. Her.
I envy Laura.
And then there's me. Jessica; my name must bring terror to all the guys that know me. My ugly long brown hair, scarlet lips, round nose, the meat around my bones, my annoying laugh.
How could someone that perfect be best friends with someone so imperfect like me?
Yet here we are, about walk into Hollister, shopping for clothes at a mall in Chino Hills, CA.
The store was dark but it smelled nice. Like perfume. I looked at the clothes. Cute but most might not fit.
"I'm gonna look around, Jess. Meet me at the counter in twenty."
"Okay." I answered.
I picked out some outfits. A light beige tank top and white shorts. A blue strapless dress and size 0 jeans. I grabbed a grey sweatshirt, a shirt with brown and white stripes, a casual sunflower yellow dress, patterned leggings and finally some Jean shorts. I would have continued but my hands were full.
I headed to the dressing rooms. Ugh. A long line. Whatever I'm not risking it.
"Jessica!?"
Where did that come from. I noticed the next person in line was Laura. I hurried over.
"Hey! Mind if I skip?"
"Lol. No. Damn girl that's a lot of stuff." She inspected my armful. I gave a low laugh.
"I couldn't pick! Don't judge, haha."
She rolled her eyes.
"You never can."
It's true. Choosing is my weak point. But-
Ooh! Its our turn. Yay!
We shared the handicapped fitting room. I pulled down my skirt and took off my top to expose my light pink bra and panties. And my fat.
"How are you so skinny!?" she whined.
"I have NO idea what you're talking about."
She laughed.
I wasn't joking.
It took about half an hour to try all my items on, look in the mirror and decide. Of course, I couldn't. So I took all of it.
We opened the door to reveal impatient shoppers.
Oops.
We set all of it on the counter. It was flooded with our stuff. The cashier gave us a weird look.
"I'm sorry; I'm a girl." I sassed.
The guy behind us chuckled.
Let me rephrase that.
The hot guy behind us chuckled.
"I didn't know models worked her!?" I told Laura "Look at him."
He smiled.
"I'm not. And I don't."
I looked from the shirtless guy on the bag to him.
"Hm. Well you could be?"
I blushed.
He is way outta my league.
"Thanks I guess."
I smiled.
The cashier brought me back to Earth.
"That'll be $365.76."
Money was not a problem. I handed him my Visa and payed for the both of us.
I guess that was it.
We turned around to exit the store but the hot guy stopped us.
"Hey can I have your number?"
Classic.
I waited for my blonde-haired bestie to say her usual 'yeah'.
Seconds passed and she didn't answer.
What?
"So can I?" he repeated.
I looked behind me and to my side until Laura nudged my with her elbow in my ribcage.
"OW! What was that for?"
She nodded towards the guy.
It took me a while before I had one of those sudden realization moments.
"OHH! Wait are you asking ME??"
He blushed.
"Yeah..."
Awww he was so cute.
Any guy that looked like him could DEFINITELY have my number.
"So, yes then?"
"OMG did I just say that last part out loud?"
"Kinda..." Lau (Laura) answered for me.
I had forgotten she was there.
Oops.
"Sorry and yeah haha." I told him.
I recited the 10 digit number as he saved it to his phone.
"I am Jessica. Jessica Walker."
He smiled again.
He seems to smile a lot.
I like that.
"I'm Cameron," he answered "Cameron Dallas."
