Harry
I had just returned from Dumbledore's office, and unexpectedly ran into Percy. It was the dead of the night, so I was utterly confused. Actually, not that much once I saw his situation. His face was crunched in frustration as his efforts were in vain.
Percy's books were spread across the stairs. Some resting on the bottom, the rest scattered around him. I snorted as I approached him, drawing his attention. He mock glared at me, reaching out one hand for help.
"There's a trick step by the way." I informed him.
"Screw you." Percy shot back.
One of his legs had sunk to the brim in the trick step. His other leg was spread horizontally on the step below, bent at the knee to support the rest of his body. A flash of pain was in his eyes, but I assumed it had to do with his split.
"How'd this happen?" I asked him, gesturing to his array of limbs.
He huffed annoyed,"Was reading Ancient Runes, and someone pushed me. I tripped and landed in the ditch."
I scowled, grabbing ahold of his arm,"Why didn't anyone help you?"
He grunted as he was finally free,"I was with my house."
I frowned as we started gathering his stuff up. That made sense, over the past few months, Percy's wormed his way into all the houses, except his own. He's an outcast of Slytherin, but he's always intertwined with the others.
I've seen Percy in the library with the Ravenclaws, playing games with the Hufflepuffs, and he's always hanging out with us Gryffindors. I've never seen him hanging out with even one Slytherin, but he always has his cat on his shoulder.
I inwardly laughed when I remembered the teachers reactions to Sally. Professor Mcgonagall was flustered, and unsure how to react. Professor Snape demanded for Sally to be gone, there was quite the standoff between them.
Lucas tried to persuade Snape, but as expected, no change. Unexpectedly a wizard dual started between them. That was the best class ever. Percy didn't even use his wand. Snape was confused at first, but once they started it was bloody awesome.
Percy didn't speak out loud for the entirety of the dual. Snape didn't either, but it was more impressive from Percy side. No wand as a sixth year? That sparked an interest from everyone in Percy.
Not the Slytherins though, they were furious that a dual happened between their head of house, and him. There was no winner though, an owl from Dumbledore flew through the window before they finished. All the professors got it.
Dumbledore allowed Percy to keep his cat because it was some sort of therapy. Apparently afterwards the teachers, Sirius, Percy's two cousins, and Percy had a meeting. From then on, the teachers seemed more wary and understanding for him.
Snape didn't pick on him, leaving him be. Slughorn became more invested in Percy's potions, and Mcgonagall even offered random things to Percy. Such as food for his cat, a spell check quill for his writings, and a spell to cast on glasses for his dyslexia. I didn't even know he had dyslexia.
I was taken from my thoughts when I heard footsteps approach us. Percy and I both looked up, it was Professor Mcgonagall and Snape. They observed the scene, we weren't even close to finishing picking up his scattered papers.
"What are you two doing out of bed?" Professor Mcgonagall demanded,"I expected more of you now that you're older, Potter."
"Clearly the two were out for a midnight stroll. Quite suspicious, one could suspect the unimaginable." Snape drawled.
"It's my fault, professor." Percy claimed calmly,"I was stuck in the trick step, and Harry was helping me."
Snape raised an unimpressed eyebrow. Both professors shared a look, but they didn't comment. Snape waved his wand, and immediately, all of Percy's things were organized and inside his duffle bag. Percy scratched the back of his neck embarrassed.
"Forgot we had magic." Percy mumbled, shrugging his shoulders.
"You seem to forget a lot of things, Mr. Jackson." Snape snarked,"For instance, the whereabouts of the cat you fought so viciously for."
Percy's eyes widened. He spun around, not finding his cat like Snape said. He gripped his hair with both of his hands, spinning around, and running around the room frantically.
"Oh gods, where is she?" Percy exclaimed.
"Where did you see her last, Mr. Jackson?" Professor Mcgonagall questioned Percy.
Percy turned around calmly, staring Snape in the eyes,"Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot. She was with my cousins, giving them a hard time because they were trying to give her a bath."
I tried to muffle my laughter, but from the pointed looks of Professor Mcgonagall and Percy, I failed. Snape turned and glared at me. He rolled his eyes at
Percy though, bewildering me, why the heck. This was messed up, Snape, you suck."I suggest you get back to your quarters, boys." Snape declared,"Its quite late."
Percy nodded, so I followed suit. We bid the professors goodnight and headed to our dorms. We walked in silence, our footsteps echoing off the walls. Then we stopped as we came to the part where would separate.
"How'd you get Snape like that?" I asked him.
He looked at me curiously,"Like what?"
"Not... intolerable." I responded, shrugging.
"I didn't do anything." Percy deflected.
"Yes you did." I confirmed,"He didn't threaten us once to give us detention. So what did you do? Did it have to do with that meeting?"
Percy rolled his eyes exasperated,"Its not what I did to him. It's what he did for me."
Percy turned and walked away. His back to me, and his figure blending into the black. His shoulders were tense, and his hands were stuffed in his pockets. Percy's robes were slung over his shoulder because of his dislike of the clothing.
"What'd he do for you?" I asked his retreating figure.
I could practically see his smirk,"Wouldn't you like to know?"
Tell me what you think...
