"Wake up Liha," A little girls voice filled my ears. I slowly opened my eyes and saw a bright, plain white room. Wait, this isn't my room... I rubbed my eyes again and then reality hit me, yesterday wasn't a dream. I laid back down, when I heard it again. "Wake up Liha!"
"Its 6 in the morning what the fu- um, what do you want?" I asked. I opened my eyes again and saw my little cousin, Charlotte, right in my face. Her blonde curls were pulled into two pig tails on the top of her head and her dark, brown eyes looked terribly excited.
"Liha, mommy told me to wake you up!" She said, climbing into my bed. She's like 4, explains why she can't say my name right. I feel bad that I never kept up with her much, she's so cute.
"Well Charlotte, why does your mom need me so early?" I asked.
"You are going to Davey's!" She exclaimed and started jumping on my bed. What the fuck is "Davey's"? Maybe a family friend? Maybe someone who can take me home? With that thought I jumped right up and ran down the stairs to the kitchen. I still look like an absolute wreck, but who cares. I saw my other cousins, Jason and Brad sitting around the dining table playing some game on their phones. Wow, they have phones here?!
"Morning, Lilah," They said at the same time without looking up from their phones.
"Hey guys, where's your mom?" I asked frantically looking for her. I REALLY need to know who this "Davey" is.
"In here!" I heard her yell from the kitchen, thank god. I sprinted to the kitchen almost out of breath from running all over the house.
"Did you need something?" I asked while entering. I saw my older cousin, Brent, standing next to Aunt Shirley. Boy, did he look pissed. "Uh, did I interrupt something? Ill come back later," I said while turning and walking away before she can even answer.
"Lilah! Get your ass back in here!" She yelled playfully. I turned back on my heels and walked back in. "Sorry, your cousin here, is just being difficult. You need to take a shower and I'll put clothes on your bed for when you get back. We're going to Davey's."
"Um, what's Davey's?" I asked, trying to sound curious.
"Sweetie, it's the families bait shop. Man, your mom didn't tell you anything," She said while finishing up some pancakes for the kids, a Mickey Mouse one for Charlotte.
"Oh," I said more rudely than I meant. I just really wanted it to be a free ticket home... Guess I should stop assuming. "Why are we going?"
"Its your new job," She said looking over at Brent. "Brent here is taking over the shop and I thought he can use a little help over there, hurry up we open in an hour." She said, as I walked out of the kitchen.
"She doesn't know anything what is she supposed to do?" Brent asked her. I don't think I was supposed to hear that.
"That's why its your job to teach her," She said, she sounded pissed too.
I just brushed off the rest of the conversation and went to go shower. I showered as quickly as possible since I only have an hour. I then walked to my room with my robe on and towel around my hair. When I entered my room I saw a note from Aunt Shirley sitting on top of a red t-shirt.
'Wear this t-shirt and jean shorts, not too short. Brent's friends stop by and I don't want them getting any ideas. Also, put your hair up and be prepared to get dirty! Love you, thank you!'
I laughed at the end part. I know she's not kidding though, I will probably be covered in worm guts by time I get back. I pulled on the old, red shirt that said 'Davey's Bait Shop' in big letters on the front. Next, I put on jean shorts that were pretty short, oh well. I pulled my hair up into a high ponytail, and applied a few coats of mascara. I grabbed a pair of plain, black flip flops and ran downstairs.
