My family and I feel like we are the last living people on earth. The world is filled with walkers, or as some people call them, zombies. We were alone until we ran into a group of people, Among them, probably the cutest guy I've ever seen. The group of people brung us to the place they were staying, a place where it was almost impossible for walkers to enter. My mom, dad, and brother were led to a place we could sleep. There was no room for me to sleep, and with much arguing with my dad, he finally let me sleep somewhere else. The good looking guy led me to a room I could stay in, which was a tiny room with bunk beds.
"Who sleeps in the other bed?" I asked.
"Oh....me actually," the guy said with a nervous laugh, "I'm Drake by the way."
"I'm Shelby, and um... is this the only bed left?"
"Yeah," he said, "but do you want to see the rest of your new home," he said.
As we walked, our arms and hands were touching the whole time, and Drake never tried to pull away or move his hand.
He showed me where I could get food, the bathrooms, and the ways out incase walkers found their way in.
As we arrived back in our tiny room, Drake told me that the bottom bunk was mine.
"Oh I almost forgot to tell you, we have to be in bed with all lights off by nine."
"Why?" I asked.
"Cause we don't need any walkers coming in here and eating any of our people."
"Oh ok," I said as I settled into bed, "well... goodnight."
"Goodnight"
The next morning, just as I open my eyes, I stare into the dark brown eyes of Drake.
"Hey good morning, I brought you breakfast."
"Oh," I said smiling, "thank you."
"No problem."
For breakfast we ate two granola bars each and some orange juice. We then met up with my family, saying hello, making sure my dad wasn't freaking out.
It was really early in the morning and I could hardly see anything, so Drake grabbed my hand and led me towards I'm not sure what.
We went up the the roof of the place, staring out into the rising sun. I turned my head, trying to catch a tiny look of Drake, but he was staring at me already.
"Your so beautiful," Drake said simply.
"Oh um," I said as I blushed, "thanks." As I stared into Drakes eyes, I felt so safe, like nothing could hurt me, even thought I hardly knew him and could get eaten any day.
As i was about to suggest we go inside because of the heat, I realized Drake was leaning in. Drake kissed me gently on the lips, pulling back to look into my blue-green eyes.
"You know, I'm really glad that you came here."
"Me too."
As weeks turned into months, Drake and I had a perfect relationship. We would spend everyday holding hands or kissing. I thought that everything would be perfect forever...until it wasn't.
One day... as we were coming in from sitting on the roof, we heard people screaming. As we hurried down the stairs, people were getting eaten or bitten. Walkers were everywhere, but there was a group of guys and a few girls just standing in the middle of everything, smiling as people were eaten around them.
Just as I was about to turn towards Drake, he was making his way towards the group of people.
"Hey guys, thanks for letting the walkers in."
"What?" I said from behind Drake, "you let the walkers in."
"Well yeah," Drake said as he gave me a devilish happy grin.
I felt tears come to my eyes as I realized that I didn't know Drake at all.
"Did you really like me?" I asked. All I got in response was a shrug.
I turned, tears in my eyes, and started to run. I ran and ran but ended up surrounded my walkers. They were slowly closing in on me, but before they could take a bite out of me, Drake was by my side. He pulled a sheet over my head, and as I saw what was on it, I was horrified. The sheet was covered in blood, walker blood. Drake had the same thing on, and as the walkers smelled us, they turned around and started looking for other people to eat.
"Why did you save me?" I asked Drake, "it's not like you care about me!"
Drake said nothing as he grabbed my hand and pulled me towards a door I had never noticed before. He pulled me down a long tunnel, out another door, and into a big van. He pushed me into the van, jumped in, and we started to move. As I looked around I realized that I was surrounded by the people who Drake were talking to.
I looked quickly at Drake, turned away, and felt the tears come running down my face. I cried and cried until my shoulders started to shake, then my head was pulled up to look into Drakes stern eyes. As I looked into his eyes, for just a second, I thought I saw the look he used to give me when he kissed me.
"Stop crying," he said slowly.
All I could do was angrily look into his eyes and shake his hand away from me.
As it started to get darker, I fell asleep. But when I woke up the next morning, my head was on Drakes lap, and he was staring down at me. I quickly sat up and wiped my eyes with the back of my hand.
"We're here," a guy from the front of the van said.
As all the doors were opened, I jumped out of the van, and made a run for it. I didn't go very far thought, I was tackled to the found by Drake.
"Stop fighting," he said.
"No!"
"You wouldn't even be alive right now if it wasn't for me!"
"I'd rather be dead!" I yelled into Drakes face, "I thought you cared about me, but I was wrong."
"I do care about you ok, it's just... I don't deserve you, I'm evil ya know." Drake said with a small smile.
"Yeah I know." I said as i pushed Drake off me and made my way towards the group of angry looking people staring at me.
Later, as I sat in my new room, a guy walks in.
"Hey, I'm Nate." I was about to tell the guy to get away from me, but I realized Drake was standing behind him.
"Hi," I said, "what do you need."
"Well," he said siting next to me on the bed, "I could go for a kiss."
As he said this, I felt my heart sink.
"Sorry, I think you need to get out."
"Oh come on." Nate said as he started to climb on top of me.
"Stop, get off m-" but before I could finish talking, Nate was laying across the room, rubbing the back of his head."
"Come on bro, I'm just trying to have a little fun," Nate said.
"If you don't get out of here, I will kill you."
As Nate left, Drake started to leave the room.
"Wait Drake... I would probably feel a lot more safe if you stayed in here with me tonight." I said.
"Oh... sure," Drake said with a small smile.
Drake got in the bed next to me, but made sure we weren't touching, and quickly fell asleep.
I stared at Drake a few more minutes before finally drifting off to sleep.
