Chapter 1

Positive. It's positve. Wait...what? No. This can't happen. When I say this can't happen I mean this cannot happen! I am about to graduate from high school in two weeks and I'm still waiting for my application letter from Long Beach State to come. I have my whole life ahead of me and this is like putting a rock right in the middle of the river called Life. My hands are shaking so much I drop the stick on the tile flooring which makes a loud clanking noise.

"Emily, you okay in there?" Brooke, my best friend, calls from outside the bathroom door. My mind snaps back to reality.

"Uh, ya." I reply.

I clean everything up and wrap the stick in toilet paper to throw away outside of the house. Opening the door, I see Brooke leaning against the wall fumbling with her phone. She looks up and waits seconds but seems like hours for me to say something. I finally get the courage to mumble out, "I'm pregnant."
