Alexis had just begun to really comprehend what was happening when she was upstairs in her bedroom, managing to stuff her hairbrush into a slot in her suitcase. She was leaving… to Aliquid Core.

Why did she have to leave? Couldn’t she just stay at home, finish school, and ignore the dead people? She managed to close the door to the other world completely. She couldn’t take the spirits right now.

       Corrine.

Yea, that is what Lily had called that girl. Or was she a girl? Alexis knew she had been a bobcat just moments before. Those silver eyes. They were undeniable. The feral patterns highlights and… those fangs, it was all there. Alexis knew it.

‘I’m not letting you take her anywhere!’ Alexis’s mother had protested which gained a slap across the face from Lily.

‘Mrs. Wells I assure you this is a give or take business. No buy backs, take backs, give backs, or refunds. We take as we please to maintain peace in this life. Now, Alexis go pack only necessary things.’

So, afraid of receiving some mystical torment beyond my comprehension or just the slap from that perfectly manicured hand, Alexis went upstairs and started stuffing her skinny jeans and favorite band shirts and hats into her backpack and two suitcases. She finished putting her phone charger and deodorant away when a voice at the bedroom door that startled Alexis.

“Are you ready to leave soon?” Lily asked with a very kind smile.

“Yes.” She trembled with fear. Lily could almost smell it.

“Child, I know you have questions. And don’t be afraid. You will know soon enough.” She smiled and patted Alexis on the shoulder. Then Lily grew a quizzical look.

       “What?” Alexis asked nervous.

“She tells me you closed the door.” Lily whispered and Alexis grew very still and terrified.

“Yes.” Alexis breathed heavy.

“Don’t be afraid of the other world. You haven’t seen what lies beyond. What manifested with me was the most common of horrors you see.”

Alexis barely seemed to comprehend.

“And they can smell your feel, feel you tremble. You need not, no, must not be afraid or else they find you and exterminate you. You have to be strong at heart.”

Baffled by this, Alexis relaxed and nodded.

Alexis turned her back to her and zipped her suitcase and threw her backpack on before taking the two suitcases, one in each hand.

       “I’m ready now.” Alexis smiled.

“Good. Let’s get you going.” Lily said urging her on by nudging her lightly on the back.

They strolled out of the house and Alexis was almost happy to briefly say goodbye to her mother. They came to silver 2013 Dodge Charger and Alexis could feel the shocked on her face.

Lily just looked at her with a puzzled face as she open the car door.

       “Nice car?” Lily asked.

Dumbfounded, Alexis nodded her head and Lily smiled.

“There’s plenty of more to see. Luckily, you live in the same town as the Corp. Or else, we’d have complications with getting you there. Throw your stuff in the back.” She commanded and slid into the car.
