The next time I wake up, I am able to look around a bit better. I see Zeke, knocked out in a chair by my bed. I'm kind of uncomfortable. I want to move, but something tells me it's not a good idea. After a few minutes of slow wiggling, I've shifted slightly to one side. It's a little better; my side is elevated. The minutes tick past with no motion, no sound. I don't want to wake up Zeke; he's obviously exhausted. But I am really, really bored. And I'm not sure I can get up on my own. I'm not really tired at the moment. But, I suppose sleeping is my best option right now. So I do.
Finally, Shauna drops in. She smiles when I stir awake. I'm quick to be alert after all of the sleeping I've been doing lately. I'm restless; I just want to get out and do something. Still, I feel pretty crappy. I make an attempt to return the smile, but I don't have a lot of heart to do it with. She steals the other chair, pulling it up beside the bed by Zeke. "I'll be quiet." She whispers, glancing at him. "I don't have a problem with that." I respond, because it's sort of hard to talk at all. She grins "How do you feel?" I roll my eyes "Wonderful." I say, my voice thick with sarcasm. "Well, you only got shot, almost bleed to death, and lost your spleen!" she whispers excitedly. I do a double take at the last part "They took my spleen!?" She nods, chuckling. " 'S ok. You don't really need it." I sigh "Lovely. Did Four manage to shoot that bastard?" She tilts her head "Somewhat. He shot him, but he still got away." "How?! He had a gun on his head!" I say, maybe a bit loud. "Well when you moved, he moved, and Four blew up his left shoulder. Then he shot Four in the leg. Only grazed it, but he wasn't in any shape to chase." I am a bit sickened by this. It's my fault that he isn't dead. And also, I got my friend and instructor shot. So that's great. "On the bright side, he won't be using that arm for a while. Or ever. Too bad it wasn't the other one. He wouldn't be shooting anything then." She continues. I nod slightly. That has to hurt. I wouldn't be surprised if Tyson lost that arm. Point blank gunshots tend to mess you up. I would know.
"How's Four doing?" I ask. She shrugs "Fine. It was only a flesh wound. Should heal up pretty fast. I think he said he was gonna come over later." I blink. "Yeah. I have plenty to tell him." Shauna sighs "Was it just Tyson? Or did he say anything about anyone else?" I blow out air through my mouth. "Well yeah, I'm pretty sure my mother sent him, and Eric certainly didn't stop her. But on the bright side, we can probably get Sara kicked, if we want. Eric wouldn't dare defend her. It'd look too suspicious." She nods "Devious. I like it. But I think we should let her go for now. Too much trouble." She says. Zeke stirs slightly, finally woken by our talking. He rubs his eyes "Why is Shauna always watching me sleep?" he asks groggily. I start to laugh, but quickly stop when my side protests. He grabs my hand and I squeeze it gratefully. Shauna is still cracking up. "Didn't you know I was a creepy stalker?" she gets out. He laughs along with her, but I can only smile, annoyingly enough. It's almost just like old times. Except one of us is infirmed and can't laugh. It's sort of depressing. Shauna looks at the clock "I have to get to work." I raise an eyebrow "Wait what time is it?" Zeke chuckles "8am." "Oh. I thought it was like 3." Shauna laughs a bit. Obviously my time away from the sun has messed up my internal clock pretty bad. "I'll come by again later." She says, standing. I smile "Bye." I mumble, a bit reluctantly.
The time thing does explain why Zeke was sleeping. "I have to go too." Zeke says. I frown, but I know he has no choice. You can't just leave the government waiting. Well, you actually probably could, considering they're Abnegation. They probably would brush it off and say you come first. "I'll be back as soon as I get off." He say, standing up as well, a little sleepy still. I smile "Ok." He kisses me on the forehead "Love you." I feel all warm and fuzzy inside. "You too." I mumble as he walks out the door. Seeing nothing else to do, I close my eyes and fall asleep once again.
