I woke up to the sound of my alarm.
"Shut up!" I yelled at it. As I reached over to turn it off, I remembered it was the first day of summer break. I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep, so I got out of bed and walked into my bathroom. As I looked at myself in the mirror, I realized that I desperately needed a shower. Ugh! I walked back into my room and grabbed some clothes from my closet, a t shirt and a pair of ripped denim short shorts, and slammed the door behind me as I walked back into the bathroom. I ran the water and got into the shower, letting the water run over me as I tried to remember why I had set my alarm. Then it dawned on me. I had to go to my aunts farm for the summer! How could I forget?! As I was finishing in the shower, I heard a knock at the door.
"What?!" I yelled at the closed door.
"Honey, we have to leave in ten minutes." My mom said as I got out of the shower.
"Shit!" I yelled hurrying to put my clothes on, "Okay, Mom! I'll be out in a minute!" As I hurried to get dried off and get my clothes on, I heard another knock at the door.
"What?" I asked slightly annoyed.
"Don't worry about breakfast, we can get something on the way," my mothers voice came through the door again.
"Okay Mom!" I said opening the door. I grabbed my suitcase and followed her down the stairs to the kitchen where my dad was making breakfast for my two siblings, Nadia and Aidan, they were fraternal twin brother and sister. They were three years old and the sweetest kids in the world.
"Bye Oklahoma!" Aidan yelled from his chair at the kitchen counter. I set my suitcase down and held out my arms for my two favorite kids to give me a hug goodbye.
"Bye guys, be good. I'll see you when I get back." I let go of them to kiss my dad on the cheek.
"Bye sweetie, don't be too much of a teenager!" he said bringing me into a tight embrace. I rolled my eyes.
"Of course not, Dad." I replied. Then I remembered something. "Crap!" I yelled running back to my room. I almost forgot my guitar! I grabbed my guitar by the strap and ran back downstairs. "Almost forgot this." I said walking down the stairs. Waving one last goodbye, I closed the front door behind me and followed my mom to the car.
"Where do you want to got for breakfast?" My mom asked once we were on the road.
"I don't care... umm... how about Tofu King?" My mom groaned. I was the only one who didn't eat meat In my family.
"Gross."
"Well, we can stop somewhere else for you to get something."
"Yeah, I probably will."
A few minutes later, we pulled into tofu king.
"What do you want?" My mom asked.
"I'll get a veggie burger" I said avoiding my moms disapproving stare.
She ordered for me and we were off.As my mom pulled onto the highway, I have her a weird look.
"Mom, aren't you going to get something?" I asked, unwrapping my burger.
"No, the smell of that veggie burger made me lose my appetite."
I rolled my eyes and took a big bite of my burger.
"Mmmmmmmmm..."
My mom rolled her eyes.
"Disgusting, how can you eat that for breakfast?"
"They don't really have a breakfast menu." I replied innocently. I looked out the window, and all I saw was cornfield after cornfield. This was going to be a boring summer.
