It has been a week since Emily and her dad saw the circle mark on the back of her neck,  five days since they officially accepted it as the mark.  The circle shaped mark appeared out of nowhere to suddenly change Emily's life drastically.

She still remembered the first time she saw it , It was a day just like any other and she started it off by having breakfest, she then went to brush her hair infront of the mirror before noticing something on her back. After taking several close looks at it she knew it was the mark,

At first she hoped it was some sort of scar or a burn mark. But the denial was short lived as she soon after had to quickly come to terms with it. She heard rumors about the mark and its holders but never thought of it as something real, let alone something that could happen to her.

She first told her cousin, Selina and a close friend  named Isabelle. She then told her Aunt before finally telling her Uncle. She did not want to tell her dad as she knew it would devestate him.  After all, she was his only daughter and only close family he had left. But Eventually she had to tell him and he did not take it well.

Emily's dad; Arman Winkle, was a fragile man. Very sweet and loving at heart but fragile on the surface. His tired green eyes residing behind his large circle shaped glasses gave an accurate description of his character.

" Come over here again Emily, we will check again to see  if the mark on your neck is what the other woman said it was." He said as he stood beside  Limbra.

Limbra was the village historian. She was a wise elderly lady with a warm smile and bright blue eyes. She  was also the mother of the two village watchmen; Randel and Jeoff, The same two men who stood by her as she tried to convince Arman that there were no doubts left regarding the mark on Emily’s back.

You see what the mark on the back of Emily’s neck meant was that Emily was chosen by some unknown earthly force to be part of what people called the golden circle. Neither Emily nor her father knew what that entailed for them. They could only speculate and talk about the rumors that they have heard but In all fairness  no one in the small village of Kameras had a clue about what it meant to be part of this golden circle.

People heard the golden circle caused miracles , others heard it had inflicted tragedies. No one could really verify such stories and to to most It was all just hearsay, All they did know for sure though is that members of this gifted circle will be hunted, by both people and demons for the great power that comes with this membership.

"Emily lets get our clothes and food ready, we are leaving tomorrow morning." Said Arman  with his worried ridden face staring at his daughter with despair. He knew deep down inside that his only child was in fatal danger, and that their was very little he could do about it. But none the less Arman was determined to spend every last bit of life in him to protect his daughter.

"I hate to say this Arman, but the sooner the better."  said Limbra as she looked Arman’s  eyes with humility.

She did not want to say those words but  a series of events had transpired in Kameras lately, and that made everyone weary and suspicious.

"The Golden circle attracts great evil to those who posses its marking" she elaborated as she slowly stood up from her wooden chair in her small riverside house.

She was understating the obvious. The village has been experiencing mysterious events left and right. Everything from illnesses, children having  strange nightmares and many adults who were claiming to see demons and abominable creatures in the outskirts of the small village.

"We will leave right now if that's your wish."  said Arman with an almost uncanny look of defeat and desperation in his face as he turned his head to stare at Emily a moment before heading to the door.

"Thats not my wish, that is what is best for all, including you and your daughter Mr Winkle."

Limbra stood up un her feet and grabbed her cane before slowly heading to her room.  Arman walked over to Randel as he tried to maintain his gesture and not let his emotions out.

"Randel, If what your mother is saying turns out true, then their is no way me and my daughter are going to survive the journey outside this village. We need your help." Whispered Arman trying to make sure neither his daughter nor Jeoff heard about what they were saying.

"What do you want me to do Arman? I am of very little use when it comes to these sort of dark matters."

"But your the village watchman, and the greatest swordsman I know, surely you could help me protect my daughter until we get to our destination. Please." Arman said with a look of desperation

"And then what Arman?, help you survive a few extra nights, what about this village, raiders and outlaws have been passing by here more lately ever since you daughter go that mark, and we are short on watchmen."

"It's not that I don't want to help you and your daughter Mr Winkle, its that I know I can't. My efforts are best put in guarding the people of Kameras".
