I gently shake Sayaka awake as I reel the lanterns back to the shore and extinguish the dancing flame.
"w-wha?" Sayaka questioned groggily. She stood up shakily. Sayaka smiles as she remembers the lanterns.
"Come on. We should get going." I said steadying her.
"Sure!" she said becoming less drowsy by the second. I picked up the picnic blanket and we walked home. I had set up my livingroom so that as soon as we got home from the pond.
We fell asleep almost as soon as we lied down on the couch.
My sleep was filled with nightmares of my little angle Sayaka and my friend Blake dating and in love. They both forgot me as they gazed into each others eyes, and when they kissed it felt like someone was slowly tearing my heart apart for the fun of it. Just to see how much pain they could cause me.
I jolted awake panting and sweating. Sayaka stood over me shaking me her brow creased with worry.
"Cat! Are you ok?" She whispered urgently.
"Y-yeah I'm just a little shaken I had a really bad nightmare." I replied. She sighed with relief. "But I can't remember it." I quickly add on realizing what that nightmare ment to me.
"We should probably go back to sleep. But first is there anything I can do to help you?" She asked her eyes glinting with the innocent sparkle that she has had since the first time I met her.
".... actually yes... there is..... please..... promise me you'll be careful with Blake.... there's something... off about him." I said hugging her.
"O-ok." She said her voice colored with confusion and surprise.
"Thanks you." I said. At the time she didn't realize the importance of that request. But one month later she would realize the importance all too well.
~ 3 weeks later~
"Hey Blake! Wait up!" I said out of breath.
"Oh hey Cat. What's up?" He said a rosy hue in his cheeks.
"Not much, how about you?" I responded.
"Eh. Not really anything for me either." He replied.
