Chapter 5- Trouble and Tears part 2(Kates P.O.V.)

I can't believe them! She went home early, and he got suspended! I swear they better have good reasons.
My blood was boiling. I slammed the door and walked to the living room where Sophie and Kyle where watching a movie. Well it looks like they just finished a movie because it was the credits. I stared at them while I put my bags down.
Kate: "You two better have the best God damn reason to be sent home."
Kyle was about to say something but I cut him off.
Kate: "you were sent home because you said that you were sick , Which you clearly aren't. And you got suspended. KYLE WILSON! You. Got. SUSPENDED! Why on earth did you miss behave? Tell me right now a good reason for getting suspended please, oh wait there is none!"
We stood there in total silence for about 1 minute. Both of them looking at the ground. In Kyle's eyes I saw shame but no regret, and in Sophie's I saw space. You could never read Sophie's eyes or mind. She is tough to get through to.
Kyle: "I got into a fight mom."
Kate: "A fight. Fights are so stupid. I mean your in high school. What could you possibly be fighting about?! If it's a stupid reason I will ground you for life!"
Sophie: "Mom! It wasn't stupid at all! He was protecting me! Why don't for one minute you let us talk?! Huh? You want and get the spotlight to much! You are selfish."
And then she walked away.
Kate: "Don't walk away I wasn't done talking! Where are you going?!"
Sophie's door slams and locks. I turn over to Kyle and look him straight in the eye.
Kate: "What just happened?"
Kyle: "Mom listen. You are a wonderful mom and we love you but sometimes you don't listen to what we say or have to say."
I walk over to him and give him a hug.
Kate: "I'm sorry."
And so Kyle told me everything that happened that day. I felt bad for them and realized that they are the true victims here. Later I tried talking to Sophie but she would only let Kyle in her room. I felt bad for what I said and wanted to apologize but you can't say something like that behind a closed door. An apology is a very important thing that needs to be said face to face. So I'm going to wait until Sophie is ready for me to apologize.
The next day Sophie left for school without saying goodbye to me. Before I left I said goodbye to Kyle and drove to work. Today I have a very important business meeting and I need to be there early.
When I got to work my secretary came into my office and told me the secretary of the company that's going to invest in my company and her husband are coming up to my office now. I pulled two chairs up to the other side of my office and waited for them. But when I saw who they where I wished the owner came instead.
