Chapter One
3 Months Earlier
Walking into school I spot my small group of friends that I rarely hang around crowding around my locker. I sigh and saunter over to them. My friend Samantha is the first to notice me.
"Hey Kimberly." Samantha announces to our group of friends. They all turn and look at me. I smile and walk into the circle.
"Hi."I reply with fake enthusiasm and happiness.
"I love your shoes. I want some of those. Where did you get those?" Samantha gushes looking down and admiring my shoes which I dont think they are all that great.
Samantha is one of those prissy girls. She doesnt cake her face with make-up or dress like a prostitute; she dresses fashionable but classy at the same time. She is a pretty girl. She stands at the height of 55, light brown skin, very curvy, light brown eyes, long black lashes that make her eyes pop and long straight hair that stops just below her shoulders. Shes not black but looks black. Shes mix with a bunch of different ethnicities that I cant even name. She has a great personality, always fun and nice towards people and gets along with every one unless you piss her off. She has this white girl voice and acts just like a white person with a lot of confidence. I laugh at her sometimes because her voice is so funny and her laugh goes so high when she hears or sees something funny or when she is talking about her favorite boy band of the century. Overall, she is a good friend and I wont or cant get rid of her even if I tried.
"My mom got them for me. Im not sure where. Ill get back to you on that one." I answer glancing down at my shoes. My mother got them when she tried to be a good mother but once she realized it is too much work she stopped.
"Okay." Samantha responds while nodding her head.
I then turn toward my other friends Kennedy Sanders and Kristen Reynolds. Kristen is super smart and gets good grades. Shes on a college level of education even though we are all only in our junior year of high school. I wish I was on her level. Shes around the same height as Samantha and she plays rugby for our school. Shes pretty but shes just like me, not too focused on boys but more on her academics. Thats why shes so intelligent now and one of my very good friends.
Then there is Kennedy Sanders. She is my best friend out of all the girls in my group. She is real and doesnt take mess from anybody. Shes African American and Belizean. Shes about 56 in height, light skin, shoulder length hair with red ends, brown eyes, and shes small, not as curvy as me and my other friends but she is really nice to me. I always steal food and stuff from her and she does the same thing to me. We go everywhere with each other and she tells me everything and I tell her everything, well, except for certain things.
"Do you guys have everything packed for next weeks trip?" Samantha asks while I open my locker and dig out my books for my first two periods.
"I do and I cant wait to go to Big Bear. Its going to be fun." I respond as I close my locker and face them.
"Yes it is. Were going to be staying in cabins. I hope we all are together so we dont have to deal with you know who." Kennedy said rolling her eyes while pointing to the popular kids. We all look in the direction she points too and groan before focusing our attention back on her.
"I hope so too. I dont want to have to deal with Veronica Mills. You know that one girl that gets away with everything and dates the most popular boy in school. They both think that they run everything." I said adjusting my backpack on my shoulder.
"Technically they do. They dont get in trouble so they can do anything that they want. Their parents fund majority of the schools money, and Veronicas god father is the head of the school. So they can get away with murder." Samantha argues her point. We all sigh and nod agreeing with her. She is right. Thats what I hate about having privileged kids here. They basically run the school because their parents have money.
