Chapter 3: Meeting Zero

Though my writing isn't very good here, I can promise that the later chapters are a lot better ——- I've been improving my writing. I'm currently in the middle of trying to edit the earlier chapters and updating the next chapter?

Years passed... And now, Yuki is 12 years old, while Yami is 14. One night, Cross Kaien, also known as Chairman Cross, brought a young boy home.

Yami slowly walked towards the door and heard Cross Kaien say, "... Kiryu Zero. His family had been killed by a bad vampire, so I'll be taking care of him from now onwards. Yuki, please take him to the bath. I have to settle things with the police and registration to adopt him."

Yami had frozen and leaned against a wall when she heard the name 'Kiryu Zero'. A few images of a silver haired boy with lavender eyes came into her head. He seemed older, taller and stronger, definitely not a young boy like right now wearing a school uniform and holding onto a gun.

"What was that...?" She wondered, pressing a hand to her head.

Before she knew it, she had slumped down the wall, deep in thought, while Yuki slowly brought Zero to another washroom in the hallway, and filled the bath with warm water.

The scent of blood jolted Yami into reality, causing her to widen her eye and covered her nose, trying to get rid of the smell. She quickly went back to her room and locked the door. She slumped down against the door, her breaths coming in short and abrupt breaths, causing the towel wrapped on her head to fall off, letting her long and wet hair roll down to her sides. She grabbed her neck, as if trying to get rid of a non-existing flame burning her neck. What's happening...?

Yami placed her hands on her nose, trying to get rid of the smell of blood. She went back to the bathroom in her room, and turn on the shower which is connected to the bathtub. She sat in the bathtub, letting the cold spray of water soak herself wet, cooling her overheating body.

Clutching onto the edge of the bathtub, she tried to fight the bouts of dizziness and black spots in her vision as she started having difficulty in breathing. Breathing in deeply, she tried to get some air into herself, but started coughing violently, some red liquid splattering into the bathtub and some on herself. 

Feeling exhausted and dizzy, she started to lose consciousness. 'No... Not now... I... still have to clean up...' Yami thought dizzily, trying her best to keep her half closed eyes open, however, her body thought otherwise. She fell sideways, hitting the bottom of the bathtub with a soft 'thud'.

In the morning...

Yami stirred slightly and woke up to the still ongoing cold shower. Her face was deathly pale, and she felt cold from staying under the shower all night. She cleaned herself up and made herself look presentable, as Chairman Cross would soon be up calling everyone for breakfast.

Fortunately, Chairman Cross didn't come back for the night as he had to tend to the registration of adopting Kiryu Zero. "What... exactly happen here last night? I... don't really remember much except feeling sick..." Yami thought, trying to remember what had happened during the night. 

"Yami-channn~~~ Daddy made a breakfast filled with love for you~~~ Come out and eat it~~~" Chairman Cross said cheerily, knocking on Yami's bedroom door. 

Yami opened the door, and peeked out, scaring Chairman Cross. "I'm not feeling well. I don't want to eat anything." Yami's voice came out, barely like a whisper. 

"No! You have to eat! Especially when you're sick! Because Daddy said so!" Chairman Cross pouted but his face reverted back to normal as he looked at her worriedly. Is this one of the stages Kaname told him? If so, he has to keep a close eye on her, and make sure that nothing bad would happen to her.

Even though she didn't feel like eating, she decided to go anyway, not wanting the Chairman to get even more worried at her lack of appetite. Besides, she'll need food to gain back her strength. As she slowly pushed the door open, and dragged herself downstairs, but ended up tripping and almost fell if Chairman Cross hadn't caught her.

"Careful... Go back to bed after eating..." He said and helped her down the stairs.

Zero and Yuki were already there, waiting. Zero's eyes slightly widened out of surprise when he saw Yami, having not known that there was another child in the house. Chairman Cross noticed the silent exchange the two shared but decided to pretend to not notice it. Yuki, as always, was totally oblivious and was staring at Zero from time to time, before turning away when they made eye contact. Clearly, she was still worried about him. 

When Yuki finally caught sight of Yami, her big brown eyes widened with worry again, and said. "Yami onee-chan... Are you okay? You looked really pale..."

"I'm fine... It's just a cold..." she muttered, but made sure that her voice is loud enough for Yuki to hear. However, it was obvious that it was something worse than a cold, and that was something both Chairman Cross and Yami know. But Chairman Cross knew that she said that to try to prevent Yuki or anyone else to worry about her, hence he kept silent.

He started serving the food and cheerily exclaimed, "I hope you three would eat as much as you can, for this food is made with loads and loadsof love by Daddy~~~~~" which immediately caused the three of them to sweatdrop at him, and start eating, ignoring him. That caused his happy face to immediately burst into tears and he went to a dark corner of the room, muttering, "They didn't even acknowledge me as Daddy... They ignored me..."

This was one of the first few meetings of Zero and Yami.
