The bright, harsh sun almost melted your eyes as you moved the curtains, creating a pool of light on the dark oak floor.
Kids were running around the old rickety house, shaking the floorboards as they stomped through the big rooms.
Your mother and father were nowhere to be seen and you were used to that now. They would never be coming back...
Not that you cared.
They'd left you in a cardboard box outside of the orphanage in a small country village. They abandoned you to join the Galactic federation while you were a baby.
"(Y/N)!" A voice rang from the bottom of the creaky stairs, right outside of your (F/C) painted room.
"I'll be right down!" you yelled as you pulled your black bed sheets neatly into place on the bed.
You slipped on a matching pair of red lacy underwear, smiling softly at yourself in the mirror. You pulled on your trademark black skirt, accompanied by a beautiful blue silky shirt.
Your (H/L), (H/C) hair tickled your neck as you rushed down the stairs."(Y/N), get to the table and grab some breakfast before it's all gone." A tall woman stood at the stove in the kitchen, cooking bacon and eggs. The smell attacked your nose and left you ravenous as you scrambled to the table.
Plopping yourself down on your seat, you scan the other kid's faces. They were all younger than you, in their early teens. You took a liking to one little girl in particular, she felt like a blood sibling. Her name was Anna and was the youngest of the group, at 13 years old. Her short blonde hair rested on her neck, curling in slightly at the bottom. You swore to her that you would protect her when she arrived at the orphanage. She was important. Very, very important. She made you feel needed, wanted...
Loved. After having eaten your breakfast, you quickly run to your room, slamming the door open and sliding onto your bed. You picked up your red laptop from the floor and began searching through your Facebook feed. Gadgets you had made were spewed around the room, including a small earring with a tracking device integrated into it.
Anna stomped up the stairs in a huff and barged into your room. "Anna, just who I wanted. You look sad, what's wrong?"
"She's doing it again..." Anna cried, sobbing into your shirt.Your 'caretaker' was a complete ass when she didn't get her way. You'd even tried to run away before with Anna. You could drive and the caretaker wouldn't care so much if you left. At least, that's what you thought. She'd called the cops and had you brought back. After that she enrolled you into a school, but you completely refused to go.
It's not a place for smart people."Okay sweetie, would you like to come with me today? I'll take you to get some ice-cream!" You exclaimed as her face lit up. "But first," You started again, "I want you to put this earring in and flip this little switch here." You said, pointing to a little flip switch in the back of the small diamond earring.
"Okay (Y/N), but what does it do?" she asked inquisitively.
"It makes sure that I always know where you are, and I can find you if you get lost." You smiled brightly as she plucked the earring from your hand and jumped to the long mirror on the wall. She fiddled with it slightly, trying to put it on.
You giggle slightly as you walk over and say "Need some help?".
She turned to you and squeaked in reply. You helped her pop the earring in and flip the tiny switch. "if you ever get into any trouble and need me, tap the diamond on it twice. It'll send a signal to my watch here," you presented a small golden watch from your pocket. "So I can come and get you."
She coked her eyebrow up and tapped the earring, a small holographic image of her face appeared on your watch. It beeped, getting louder each time and then stopped suddenly as you tapped the screen.
