Everything was great. I had just started dating Aaron, who was my best friend before that. We were perfect together, your typical Bonnie and Clyde, William and Kate, etc etc. Anyways, Aaron had a motorcycle. I absolutely hated the thing, but one day he managed to convince me to go for a ride with him, just down the highway to the next town over and back.

Everything was going perfectly, everything was beautiful in the ride to the next town over, James County. Full leafy trees, lush green fields, and the sky was as blue as the sea. My blonde-brunette hair was whipping behind me in the wind, my ocean eyes shifting around trying to take everything in.

Aaron slowed down for the speed bumps that signaled that we were getting off of the highway. We went to a Wendy's for lunch and I got my favorite, a vanilla Frosty, after we ate. We talked and laughed, and then Aaron noticed that his mom was texting him. He said that we needed to get back soon. And then he got a call from his mother, saying that his little sister Alayna fell off of their trampoline and had to go to the hospital.

We got on his motorcycle, pulled our helmets on, and set off. He took the speed bumps at almost seventy miles per hour, and I was almost thrown off of the bike. I clutched Aaron's jacket and he didn't even noticed. We took a different course to the hospital than we had from our hometown. That was probably why Aaron didn't see the oil slick mere feet in front of us, didn't notice my scream, didn't realize we were flying until we hit the ground. Or maybe he didn't care. Maybe Aaron just wanted to be there for Alayna.

Regardless of his reasoning, we were flying down the highway on a sleek black Harley Davidson motorcycle at breakneck speed and we did hit that oil slick. I flew and Aaron flew, and together we came hurtling to the ground. I smelled the smoke and heard the people rushing out of their cars. I felt my pain and saw the bike in flames four feet away from me. But the one thing I didn't see was Aaron.
