Chapter 2
"Carson?" I gasp a little short of breath. The reason for this is my best friend stands in front of me looking nothing short of a model. His normally pale skin is tan, he has natural caramel highlights running through his auburn hair, he's grown taller and has gained more muscle since the last time I've seen him too. Also, his cheek bones and jaw have seem to be given his face a more defined look.
"Earth to Skye," he waves his hand in front of my face, "I know I've changed a bit, but not enough to stun my best friend's brain into hibernation." I shake my head to get rid of my ridiculous thoughts and look up at Carson. He smiles down at me waiting for me to speak. "Uh, yeah sorry, I meant... Carson!" I wrap my arms around his neck giving him a tight long hug, "I've missed having my best friend around this summer!"
He chuckles, wrapping his arms around my waist returning the hug. "Really, because your reaction to seeing me didn't really show that." Smirking he pulls back from the hug looking at me with a questioning gaze. I smile jokingly back, "Well I'm sorry, but look at you! Your so.... Different! You left little old me back in Cali looking like a boy and now..." I wave my arms all around him pointing out how much he's changed.
"Are you trying to tell me, Andy, that I'm a man now?" He wiggled his eyebrows suggestively at me before we both burst out laughing at his childish behavior. I missed Carson a lot this summer but I didn't realize how much until now. He is my best friend and has been for a long time, nothing will ever change that.
"Yes, you are now a man. Especially with that 5 year old personality of yours." I roll my eyes, then turn and start walking to my first class, which is AP calculas. I honestly hate math, but you gotta do what you gotta do to get into universities.
Carson jogs to catch up with me. "Hey, what's your first class?", I hand him my schedule, "Calculas? That blows. Mines gym, but it looks like we have english and our spare together." He hands me back my schedule. "Well, I gotta go get changed for gym, see you at lunch?" He asks, walking towards the stairs. "Yeah, I'll see you then." I nod as he turns and runs up the stairs.

Not doing anything involving math all summer, as I now just realize, was a mistake. Sitting in calculas listening to the teacher give us a bit of review, I realize I do not remember a single thing. It's good I don't have any friends in this class, because I'm going to have to pay attention 24/7 in order to get a good mark.
I look at the clock, seeing I only have about 2 minutes until the class is done, I start to pack up my things before the bell rings.
"Seeing as it's the first day, you will not have any homework." My teacher, Mr. Chansler, tells us earning cheers from my classmates. I have a feeling all of my other classes will be the same, since they don't usually hand out homework on the first day anyways.
The bell rings signaling the end of the class, and my freedom from math until tomorrow. Before heading to gym, I stop at my locker to grab the change of clothes I have for gym. Gym and I have what you would call a love/hate relationship. I love the fun parts of it, like health and working with others, but hate the more physical parts of it a.k.a the actual gym part.
On my way there I happen to meet up with Emily, and since she is in my gym class, we end up walking together.
In gym we didn't do much since it was the first day and no one really bothered to bring their gym clothes. We took the time to get to know one another, and our names, by playing a couple games.
Finally the bell rung signalling the end of class and beginning of lunch. Being 17 I have a job, and therefore, my own money, so I don't feel the need to pack a lunch when I could sleep in and buy a lunch. Our cafeteria isn't expensive and actually has good food.
Once I grabbed a couple of things and payed for them, I headed toward he table occupied by Luke, Carson, Emily, and a couple of our other friends. Since both Carson and Luke play on the Football team, a good amount of other football players and cheerleaders that sit at our table with us.
Sitting down inbetween Carson and Luke, I grab my fork and dig into my salad I bought from the caf. Mmmmmm, I moan to myself. Lucky for me I was able to get there early enough to get a plate of ceaser salad; my favourite.
Em giggles, "Enjoying your lunch there Skye?" I feel my face heat up a bit. I guess I didn't exactly moan to myself. I feel Luke kiss the side of my head, near my temple, and I smile up at him and all his perfection.
"Hey babe, can I steal a bite of that from you? I forgot some of my money at home, so I was only able to get an apple and a drink." He states sheepishly. He's always forgetting stuff. Like once he forgot his keys to his house so he was locked out for an hour before he decided to come to my house.
I giggle, " Of course, I'm not going to let you starve!" I stab a few peices of lettuce onto my fork before feeding them to Luke and then pecking him on the lips.
"Hey, Skyler!" I hear someone shout from the end of the table. I turn my head in the direction of the voice, only to find myself looking at Anah, one of the cheerleaders that sit with us. Anah is one of the few cheerleaders I get along with, because unlike the others she doesn't hate that I'm dating Luke.
Luke's not the quarterback of the team but he's goodlooking enough that he has the attention of the cheerleaders and a lot of other girls in the school, which in my opinion is positive and negative. I mean, obviously it's nice having a really goodlooking guy as a boyfriend who is also sweet and loving, but it's also scary knowing that he could get another prettier and better girl in the blink of an eye.
"Skye? Hello?" I shake my head to find Carson looking at me. "Hey, you zoned out a while back so I'm guessing you didn't hear my idea on where to go during our spare."
"Sorry, no I didn't." I apologize looking up at him. His eyes are the colour of green meadows.
"Well, since we have it last today, I was thinking we should go back to my house and watch a movie. What do you think?" He gives me a questioning look, wondering what my opinion on it is.
" I think it's a great idea! I missed hanging out with you!" He laughs at my excitement. The bell rings ending our lunch and hour of freedom.
"Of course you did, who wouldn't?" He jokes, pretending to flip his non-existent long hair.
I laugh as we walk out of the cafeteria together.
