*BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP* I couldn't help but groan as my watch's 6:00 alarm went off. It was the dawn of a new day, or in other words the ending of another disastrous night. The days were bad enough but the nights were worse, always letting the nightmares and darkness of my memories take over. I chuckled darkly to myself, two years later and the woman still had her claws sunk so deep in my life. A sharp but deep bark from outside let me know that my four legged bodyguards had returned from their adventure, good thing I remember to leave food out for them or I would have woke up to howling crybabies.
Another set of barks quickly followed, impatient much my boys. "Ugh, alright you bloody hounds I'm up just give me a minute!" I growled towards my window before dragging myself out of my warm bed. I surveyed my meek belongings scattered on the floor, and a few hanging in my closet, I never really had much. I had three pairs of shoes, one tennis shoe, a set of 4 inch pink stilettos they matched the only dress I owned, and a pair of black leather boots. A few t-shirts, jeans and shorts for everyday wear, a black leather jacket, some undergarments because I wasn't a Neanderthal and of course a couple workout outfits for my regular morning runs.
It was one of these outfits I chose and quickly slipped it and my tennis shoes on before doing a few quick stretches and rushing downstairs to my impatient pets. I made sure to get their leashes on to their displeasure, but I didn't want to scare everything in the area away considering their over exuberant attitude. "Alright boys ready to go for a run, how about we go check out the new dog park near here?" I asked to their excited whines, quickly locking the front door we all started off.
I was going off what Will had told me the day before that if I cut through the woods and followed the path I'd see the signs for the park so I did just that, taking in the scenery as we went, Duke, Billy and Nuka stayed right with me. Will hadn't got to stay long after dropping me off since he had to get back to his job and girlfriend, I couldn't blame him though he had his own life to live, and he certainly didn't need my baggage added to it. About ten minutes into our jog I came up on the sign Will mentioned and followed the sound of dogs barking up ahead.
The dog park wasn't a huge thing just your basic fenced in park with a fountain and lots of room for the dogs to run, play and socialize, and some benches for their owners to sit and watch them. There was even a payphone, now that could come in handy. I quickly unclipped Duke and Billy before they could have a chance to pull my arms off, and they were off exploring as fast as I could blink. Nuka was always the calmer one, not so big on socializing and he sat there at my side as I unclipped his leash and ruffled his scruff playfully to his crooning growl.
"Alright big guy go make some friends, and don't eat anybody." I teased as he huffed and slowly trotted over to the fountain, scaring one of the Collies there who gave him a wide berth, few dogs were brave enough to approach the half wild male. I sighed before taking out a book I had been reading recently and taking a seat on an empty bench. I would wait a few hours then head home and take a bath before I needed to meet Uncle Phil for breakfast, he had emailed before bed last night about meeting up today.
I looked up at a play growl to see Nuka wrestling with a soaking wet Golden retriever, I couldn't help but laugh at the look on his k-9 face. He seemed to be shocked the smaller dog was brave enough to pounce on him, shaking my head at the two I went back to reading my book. Then out of no where there's this soaking wet eighty something pound Golden retriever sitting in my lap. Okay then.
