F O O T S T E P S

There she heard it again. She was peacefully sending e-mails to her mom, who lived somewhere far from where she is, until she heard those footsteps.

As she heard it again she took the covers and hid under it. She didn't know what to do. She doesn't have any experience when it comes to things life this.

She heard the door knob twist and that made her tremble in fear. But that changed when she heard a loud shout of ' HAPPY BIRTHDAY! ' and only to see her mother, father, and sister.

» Mirai's P.O.V «

" Geez you guys, you almost gave me a heart attack! " I whined.

" Aww, did you miss me that much? " My sister asked.

" Not at all.. " I answered bluntly, looking at the other way.

" That's enough, the both of you. " Mother scolds us and we both stopped fighting.

" Why are you guys here anyway? And without me knowing the news? " I crossed my arms as I demanded an answer.

" Then it wouldn't be a surprise. " My father answered and pulled out a box of cake.

" Happy Birthday Mirai. " He gave me a smile so did my sister and mother.

" Thanks. " Slowly tears forming.

" Why won't we eat the cake? It's only 5:26 in the morning. " I said and we all went to the living room to eat the cake.

" Wait there and i'll just be getting some plates and refreshments. " I said as I walked into the kitchen.

When I returned something bothered me. How did they got away from their works if it's only Friday?

" You all have works, right? So how did you all got away with it? " I wondered.

" I told my co-workers that i've catch a cold. " My sister said, scratching the back of her head.

" And me and your father skipped today, so that we can all celebrate your birthday together. " What my mother just said made my eyes widen.

" YOU DID WHAT?!?! " I shouted at them, shocked.

" Natsumi, call your co-workers that your felling alright and that you can work today. Mom, Dad, call you Boss right now and tell that the car's front tire got flat and needed some fixing that's why your gonna be late! " I ordered.

" Y-Yes, Ma'am. " They all said in unison and started calling.

" I swear all of you are such a pain in the ass. " I said as I tap my foot at the wooden floor.

After about 5 minutes they all apologized for not being able to celebrate my birthday. And I said it was alright and I reminded them to never pull a stunt like that ever again. They all agreed then they all left.

I walked back to my room and now I can't fall asleep. Well, I just have to make myself sleepy then, which seems impossible now.
