"So you're the recruit."

Raven turned around looking for the voice that spoke. She caught a glimpse of Blonde hair, and turned back to see a girl walk out from the forest.

As the girl leaned against the tree, Raven studied her. She had long slightly matted hair, with streaks of red, and wore black from head to toe. Her eyes were surrounded by smudged black paint, and she looked care-free but dangerous.

"Well I might be, but that depends who you are." Raven spoke finally.

The girls face was hard for a few seconds, but then broke out in a grin as she held her hand out.

"I like you newbie. I'm Clarke."

Page Break

Clarke walked back to camp with the girl at her side. Raven she had said her name was. It fit her. She had long brown hair tied up, and sharp features that would intimidate most.

Clarke was usually quiet, but she liked the newbie. She had a feeling that they had been through similar stuff, and decided to ask Anya if she could be her mentor for the first couple of weeks.

"So what made you want to come to the city of light," Clarke broke the silence with.

Raven shrugged and looked down.

"I don't know really. Something big happened in my life, and I realized I needed a change. I had always heard of the city of light, and thought that it could be my way out. I had contact with someone inside, and found a way to come. "

Clarke looked back at her.

"Someone inside?"

"A girl named Harper. She used to live next to me before she just up and left one day. I talked to some people, and found out she joined you guys. Made contact with a radio I had given her a long time ago."

Clarke nodded in understanding.

"Harper's nice. She works in the kitchen most of the time, but does come on raids with us."

Raven didn't look surprised at the word raid. Clarke figured she knew what she was getting into, and was glad. She didn't know if she could handle another newbie deciding she wasn't up for it and ratting them out. That had been a stressful time. They had stopped their raids, and all personal projects were cancelled as they moved camp.

"What do you do?"

Clarke was surprised to hear the girl talk, but grinned all the same.

"I'm Anya's second, so I get to do all the fun stuff. I go on raids most of the time, but I get projects to."

Raven's eyebrows furrowed as they made a left turn climbing over some fallen trees.

"Projects...?"

Clarke opened her mouth to answer, but at the sound of a twig snapping froze. She pushed Raven behind the nearest tree and crouched low, pulling out a long dagger.

Raven's eyes widened as Clarke moved forward towards where the sound came from. Clarke moved nimbly, and quietly. She pulled her dagger back over her head getting ready to throw it, and stepped back to get a better angle.

SNAP

As Clarke's foot landed on the twig, she ducked and cursed under her breath. Raven moved back behind the tree, and heard rustling in the bushes.

She turned around to see Clarke walking past, heading in the direction they were originally heading. She didn't say anything, but Raven was curious, and wanted to know.

"Care to explain?"

Clarke sighed and said, "Deer. Thought I could bring back some good food tonight, but I guess not."

She scrunched up her face. "Damn my clumsiness!". They walked in silence.

Raven cleared her throat.

"So you were going to tell me about projects?"

Clarke nodded facing forward as she walked.

"Yeah. So besides raids, we steal through something called projects, or personal projects. These are assigned to experienced girls who dress up and pretend to be someone else to get into a specific rich guys pants. Sometimes the tasks take a while because they need to make a fake relationship, but when their invested and you go to their house, then we strike."

Clarke turned and gave a devilish grin to Raven. "You take their money at night and leave. They either think that its a one time thing and that we were going to leave anyways not checking things, or they are heartbroken and are too sad to check to see if they still have their wealth. It's our biggest method of profit, but is not to commonly used.

"Why?"

"Targets can only be chosen if we have enough information on them to attract them, or if we know they have something that we can easily exploit."

Clarke finished speaking, and then made a left turn past a large tree.

Raven's eyes widened in awe as she looked at the scene in front of her. People were everywhere laughing and running carrying objects she had never seen before. There were tents and small cabins, and everything juts looked so much like a.... like a home.

Clarke raised her hands up and turned, smirking at Raven.

"Welcome to camp newbie. Welcome to the City of Light."

A.N Hey so this is kind of like an intro chapter to introduce clarke and raven, and what kinds of things they do. This is only my second story, so it probably sucks sorry. Let me know if you want it to continue, or if you have any ideas for it? Thanks!
